Think of a tree and all of it's branches. If you look at a cross section two dimensionally it would look like several distinct individuals, but if you were to look at it from a higher third dimension, you would see the truth, that they are all just parts of a whole. Or for another example, imagine a time traveler going back in time to see his past self. From an outsider's point of view, it would look like you are seeing two completely separate individuals, but if you were somehow able to perceive the dimension of time as a physical dimension you would see the truth.
