Extremely low budget, female characters looked like they were men, and just an overall bad adaptation of the first route of the VN.
It's just not really good. People moan on about the 2006 Fate series, but in the end, it's passable, and in my opinion, pretty okay in parts. The Tsukihime anime doesn't even really get the tone properly .

Backdash on wakeup in the corner isn't a good idea in this game and the 2a+b dodge is only really useful in the air you will almost always get punished for it on the ground unless you know exactly what you're doing.

+ The details are so much more interesting than F/SN. What you learn, you nominally learn in bits and pieces, all more interesting than the last. The Tohno family's dark history alone is worth it all. Lines of Death are such a strange, novel, all-binding concept in the story.
+ The girls are so much more interesting. Even Ciel, who I consider the worst overall, has times when she's great, really great. They all have real reasons for acting the way they do, whether you agree or not with their motives. They are all VERY unique in their own stories, so that you don't end up with one heroine just being another (not unique as archetypes, though they are so in many ways)
+ Divides up well into two separate flows. All of the stories rely on each other, so you never learn everything about even one route until you play it all. Excellent linchpin route that wraps it all up.
