Is this thing durable? besides from the peeling thumbstick, will it last me for a good time?
>>
My R2 broke after about a year of use (and I don't really mash triggers either, just general gameplay).
>>
are you planning on chimping out and throwing it at a wall?
>>
>>333044806
Yeah but it feels like shit to hold. Get a third party controller that's more comfortable.
>>
>>333044909
not really
>>
Look out for the bar code sticker in the back. It likes to peel off and leave a sticky residue.
>>
My main concern is the sticks getting loose
>>
It feels far less solid than the Xbone controller and the triggers feel flimsy as fuck.

I've had mine since launch. No problems yet.
What fucking game requires you to go apeshit on your controller...?

It isn't like DBZ BT3 is on ps4. Hell the DS2 was the only controller I went through like candy playing that fucking game.
>>
>>333044806
No. Peeling shit is least problem with this controller. I already have broken trigger and sticks controllers(can't move camera down and left). Never dropped or beat it.
>>
>>333045951
>>333046063
Interesting
>>
>>333044806
its sturdy like rock
>>
>>333045951
The fuck is going on with your PS4's LED?
>>
>>333044806

I should hope so at the price they're selling them
>>

>besides of peeling thumbstick

I thought this was a meme until it happened to me. I've had my PS4 since launch and my left thumbstick is fucked
>>
Had it since launch day. Good controller to be honest and the peeling sticks is a meme.

MASTER RACE CONTROLLER COMING THROUGH

KNEEL BEFORE TRUE GREATNESS
>>
I heard that peeling sticks only happen to launch models
I've had my PS4 since Jan 2015 and it's nice, I haven't had any durability problems - it's a very solid controller
>>
>>333046598
>let's put the analog sticks IN DIFFERENT SPOTS! COMFORT IS NOT IMPORTANT LOL
>>
Yes.

I've never had the thumb sticks peel or any damage done to any of the buttons. I've also had it fall onto hardwood floor many times and go completely unscathed.
>>
>>333046326
Just a decal sticker. Same as my controller.
>>
>>333046598
enjoy your stick drift
>>
>>333044806
I've had mine since launch, no problems. Mostly use it on PC.

I never got to see the thumbstick problem, because my dog chewed them up for me, so I had to replace them anyways. No problems.

>>333046472
A replacement is $2.50 on amazon, takes 5 minutes to pop into place

>>333046598
>let's take the 360 controller
>fix the one thing wrong with it
>then ruin EVERYTHING ELSE ABOUT IT

t. microshaft

I wish the 360 had been a disaster, so Microsoft would've actually had to try to improve, instead of shitting it up as soon as they start doing well like they do with every single one of their other products.
>>
>>333044806
when in doubt, buy a DS3. that controller is sturdier. no peeling and no trigger breaking either.
>>
>>333047029
>when in doubt, buy a DS3. that controller is sturdier. no peeling and no trigger breaking either.

But it's also a horrible piece of shit.

Even if the DS4 fell apart after three months, I'd still prefer using it over the DS3.
>>
>>333047129

The only thing wrong with the DS3 is the triggers.
The triggers that would break after a year in the DS4.
>>
>>333044806
They're durable because I'm not a nigger who apes out and throws shit, I take, care of my controllers because don't want to spend another 50+ bucks on another one. And I like the feeling of them in my hand better than the xbone controller.
>>
>>333047029
I switched from years of DS3 to DS4 and I do not regret it one bit

pressure sensitive face buttons are the fucking worst, feels like there's a used condom behind them
>>
>>333047129
>But it's also a horrible piece of shit.

why? had mine since two years. pretty good altogether.
>>
>>333047193
>>333047263
I can't stand it. It manages to make playing games not fun.

Same as the Wii controller. Last gen was a nightmare. Thank gaben for emulation.
>>
>>333047341

You've still not given an actual complaint

>>333046710

Stockholm syndrome or just making assumptions without using one?

The Xbone controller is so much better.
>>
>>333047428
but why?
>>
>>333047658
Clearly you've never used one for an extended period of time. It just feels so comfortable.

I was digging through my old controllers today and found one of my Dualshock 3s, and using it just felt so much worse. Everything was unresponsive and mushy compared to the nice tactile xbone buttons and dpad.
>>
so either is shit or is perfectly fine.
>>
>>333048187
yeah but W H Y???
>>
>>333047428
I always find the opinions of kids that were raised on the original Xbox amusing. I own both and they're extremely similar overall in terms of comfort and usability. I'd say the biggest advantage the Xbox One has is that 3rd party rechargeables like Panasonic Eneloops last so much longer.
>>
>>333048278
Better materials, manufacturing, and superior American engineering.
>>
>some people prefer the DS over the Xbox controller
Why is this so difficult for certain faggots to accept? I'll just assume it's the only thing left to hold on to.
>>
>>333046598
That shit isn't even better than the 360.
>>
>>333048626
________________________BUT WHY DUDE, W H Y_________________
>>
>>333047428
not that guy but my biggest problem with the Wii U is the thumbstick's location
>>
>>333047658

Everything on the DS4 is spongy and soft, the Xbone has satisfying clicks and good resistance on everything.

D-pad is STILL in the primary input position with most games barely using it, and despite being in the primary input position, the D-pad is the worst offender on the whole controller for being spongy and horrible. They fucked up massively not using the the Vita D-pad.

Even though the thumb sticks don't peel anymore (allegedly) they still smooth out like mine after barely using it.

The battery life is a joke, I'd rather buy a Play & Charge for the Xbone than plug in the DS4 after one session.

The DS4 feels hollow and empty like a cheap third party controller, while the Xbone feels solid high quality

DS4 has no minor buttons in the middle of the controller like most controllers since the NES, instead it has the useless touchpad
>>
>>333044878
Same, always R2. I'm on my third controller since September 2014 and this one is already breaking after like two months of daily use. No button bashing either.

>DS4 has no minor buttons in the middle of the controller
what the fuck am I reading
>>
>>333049364

PS is down at the bottom between the sticks
Share is next to the D-pad
Options is next to the face buttons
>>
>>333049590
so it does have buttons in the middle?
>>
>>333049590

What exactly is the downside of this? All the buttons are there and now there's extra functionality from the touchpad.
>>
>>333044806
Bumpers get sticky if you use them a lot. The thumbstick is the worst issue though.
>>
Bought a DS4 controller about two years ago for use on PC. After a few months of use, the left stick's rubber was becoming worn and coarse, so I ripped it off and have continued using it with no issues since.

Bought a PS4 about six months ago, the pad it came with feels subtly different, the sticks are using something more durable, a more grainy feeling, haven't seen any wear at all.

Both are still working fine button-wise, and with the exception of the stick on the older one, there is no wear on either of them.
>>
>>333049238
slightly spongy buttons/dpad feel way better than clicky ones.
>>
>>333049680

No other controller does this, you have to adapt just to the DS4.

They could have at least switched the PS button and the speaker holes to make it more like the DS3.
>>
>>333044878
I have had problems with my triggers with two of these. I love the design but damn if that isn't a bitch.
>>
>>333050047

No they don't, especially since the DS4 D-pad is nothing but sponge.
>>
>>333047263
It's extremely uncomfortable. It's like someone stuck 2 dildos on a plastic rectangle and shat some buttons onto the bar.

Wii U pro controller master race.

Literally me

Bought this one on launch, as soon as I got to test it out and felt how comfortable it was in my fat beast-man hands

The stick wore off, so just go these babies and never had any issues since

Using it for both PC and PS4. Keeping the new controller from the PS4 packed, in case this one gives out
>>
>>333046710
Sony's analog sticks are the result of laziness. While Sega actually redesigned their controller with analog sticks in mind, Sony just slapped a pair on their existing controller and called it a day. Then they rehashed the exact same design for like 15 years.
>>
Still using 6 year old DS3 controller on PC and it's working perfectly. I even broke the controller wide open few years back, but it's still working apart from a piece that fell off the side.
>>
>>333044806
Maybe it's because I played the fuck out of my PS2 and then skipped PS3 the following gen, but coming back to the dualshock just feels right. I used to use a 360 controller with my PC, but after I got my PS4 I got a Bluetooth dongle and have been using the DS4 for nearly every PC game. I love the thing, personally, and I've yet to have any problems with the sticks either.
>>
>>333044909
I did this.

It broke and it hurt my wallet.

Stopped drinking coffee while playing bloodborne and fixed the chimping out -issue.
>>
>>333044806
the peeling is a meme. I ve 2 of my own and my friends have another 5 or so controllers amongst them not one of them did anything except the serial number on the bottom being hard to read, thats it. This is several years of use btw.
>>
>>333050736
>i never see it happen so it never happens xD
>>
>>333050736
>didn't happen to me so it's a meme

Tons of people posting in this very thread confirm that they had it happen, calm down anon

They fixed it with the new ones anyway, so that point is moot
