Emulate the PS2 version. PC port is shit all around and even patched does not work well at all with modern PCs.

I have this one.
Didn't work at all in Windows Vista and for a time in Windows 7 (I had a laptop I ran XP on specifically for this game until I figured it wasn't worth it) but then suddenly Win7 got patched one day and it worked just fine from that day onwards.
Don't know if it still works well in Win10, though.
Why waste your time on the worst game of the solid titles?

Twin Snakes is the only MGS1 I played.
I own MGS1 but I can't play it well without the Twin Snakes enhancements.
Best 6th gen version was the Xbox version since the framerate was nowhere near as bad as the PS2 version (Holy shit the PS2 version during the Chopper battle with Raiden) and it had better textures but since there's no emulation, you can't play it.
HD Collection Version > Xbox > PS2 > PC
