If I were to play only one Way of the Samurai game, which one should it be?
>>332992321
The first is my favorite by far
3
>>332992321
1 is pretty basic at that time, but the save-load system is crap.
2 is still my favorite so far.
3 is okay but the story is quite bland.
4 probably the best but i can't stand the screen tearing and framerate issue.
>>332992321
1 or 3. 2 is fine but you should avoid 4 at all cost, it's a bastardization of the series.

I'm playing it on PC and don't have any issues whatsoever. You can unlock the framerate.

good for you,
i was playing on console back then.

>abloo bloo bloo they set 4 slightly later and included a couple yurop ians
Jesus dude get a grip

Wait which one is this? I want to be a cowboy in a samurai game and never use a sword and just shoot people.
>>332995870
I enjoy the series in its entirety
Except maybe 3, it was slightly blander

You posted it, OP. Wots1 is the only game that gives off the feeling of an old samurai movie where your actions have a direct consequence in the story. The story in later entries boils down to being a mercenary rather than a wandering samurai who got himself caught up in a conflict.
1 is the best in terms of having a little bit of every thing for every one. Wots 2 literally has the best characters and best branching paths.
Way of the Samurai 3 suffers from too many endings with little variation but still comes out on top. Way of the Samurai 4 has the best gameplay but holy shit they butchered the CYOA aspects.

That's four
You have to unlock the gunslinging style though

The story in 3 is classic drama, dude. A family torn apart into 3 factions and a rōnin who wanders into town and changes everything

You're right and i respect your opinion. Just that 3 suffers from multiple ending with little variations in between as this anon>>332997305 pointed out. It's too much of a hassle to go through to see all endings even with a guide because alot of the hints are very vague. Wots1 hits the sweet spot for me.
>>332997305
What's wrong with 4? I though having 2 endings for each faction was alright.
I'd say 3, but that's only because it's the only one I've played because I only have a PS3.
>>332998439
4 is also on ps3
>>332998631
I guess I'll pick that one up too, then. I had a lot of fun with 3.

Also feel free to wait patiently for a western release of Yakuza Ishin.
Any day now, surely.

It's not a series where one game is clearly better than the others. They all have their own strengths and weaknesses.
WotS 3 is my favorite one, though.

2 is the best. Especially after unlocking finishing blow since, which is basically everyone dies in 1 hit mode (including yourself).
