People use JRPG because RPGs from Japan have a very certain style about them that sets them apart from western RPGs. Many RPGs from Japan don't follow that formula and therefore I would hesitate to use the JRPG genre tag to describe them. Dark Souls could arguably be called an Action RPG, but has nothing in common with the style of game people associate with JRPGs.

It's really good, but you have to play it not like a braindead JRPG.
It's a game that can be completed in 20 hours with a completionist run of 40 hours, but has a howlongtobeat of 40 hours with a completionist of 80.
If you're grinding in that game, you're doing it wrong. Grinding has 0 use other than to make sure you can dual wield, which, if you're leveling your character correctly, shouldn't be a problem by the time you have the guns to dual wield. The game wants you to think about each fight differently, and to always be learning. DEFINITELY take the tutorial, but don't think the tutorial is going to tell you how to use the battle system.
Also, don't fall back on triattacks. They're much better for healing than actual attacking. They're a waste of time for attacking.

Just gonna put this out there so you don't have to waste your time with that awful game: Bravely Default has you repeat the same scenario FOUR TIMES. That is the entire game, you repeat the same even over and over because that's what the story is about. There is a decent payoff at the end if you actually do it, but it sure as hell isn't worth it.
Also you repeat the same bosses over and over, except that they group up in the later phases of the game to make "new" boss encounters.
The class system and music are the only redeemable points about BD.
