>>
>>332930958
Yes, but the guy in charge of making the prebuilt coasters was some intern that never heard that term before.
>>
>>332931157
I think it just goes down over time if it's not inspected by a mechanic, so parts become unstable / unsafe with an increased chance of the coaster breaking down and they have to be fixed to get the rating up again.
>>
>>332930703
HEY! I did, but you could never make something that perfect
I didn't really understand how to stack stuff in 3 so I had a ton of walls saved as custom parts because they were taller than the original
So I'd place "wall double height" atop the wall

There are a lot of powered family coasters.
In the UK most runaway mine trains are powered without lift hills

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hZgJMqzib-I

As you don't have a slow lift hill and can have very long trains, you tend to get multiple laps.

It actually bugs me that RCT has never had these powered coasters as standard, especially as John Wardley was the advisor for the series and he'd built a few of them.

Depends on if you want to be able to ride your coasters with coaster cam or not and if you want to build waterparks.

Highest settings.

But I'm on an i7, r9 290x, and 12gb ram.

And my park has 1 ride in it.

>>
>>332941463
2 and 3 had them.
>>
>>332940061
You can expand that by like 8x the original size. Parks are plenty big enough.

performance for a park that actually fills the map is another question though.
>>
>>332941747
UI scaling, some UI customization (like using RCT1's stoplights instead of RCT2's flags), other stuff I forgot. Really, its biggest thing is online. Open RCT2 uses your regular RCT2 installation, but doesn't mess with it if you want to just play RCT2. So you should download it and try it, nothing to lose.

Not really. They both have their upsides and downsides.

3D is nice, but it looks outdated now while RCT2 still looks great.
>>
>>332941440
>some improvements
Those improvements were so significant that the game still has active fanforums almost twenty years later because of them. Maybe people remember RCT so unusually fondly because it was actually good.
>>
>>332929803
/vr/ct would probably have a shitfit over that
I mean the original RCT1 and 2 prebuilts weren't all godly figures to learn from, some were actually pretty shit
But man that looks someone who has just started playing the game, not a fucking prebuilt.

It takes so fucking long to design a coaster in this game.

>>
>>332942000
Does it allow choosing your own source of income? That's one of the biggest reasons to play RCT over RCT2, but if you can actually do that in RCT2, then that would be a big reason to pick RCT2.

>>332941913
I hate it when people put meme arrows in front of links. Takes literally ten times as long to open.
>>
>>332942575
You have to buy more land.
>>
>>332942345
Theme Park was also good. It's kind of weird how Theme Park never took off in the US and RCT did, especially since Theme Park was ported to a zillion platforms. Maybe too early? Theme Park was one of the first mega-hit games that I remember.

Maybe it's simply because there was a bigger market for PC games in 1999 than 1994, especially on the low-end, and RCT could run on fucking anything.
>>
>>332942434
Are you the guy that designed the prebuilt coasters?

No wait, at least you banked some turns.
>>
>>332942575
8x bigger than that.
>>
>>332942824

Theme park was a big Amiga game and in general those just didn't get noticed in the US, even with PC and 16 bit ports.

See also Bitmap Bros. legendary 16bit devs in the UK, barely known in the US.
>>
>>332933468
light doesn't normally curve, and when it does we dont care if it "crash" on another particle.
>>
>>332942824
Theme Park is a primarily business simulator that doesn't allow for much creativity/ while RCT did.

>>
>>332941802

>>
Are brakes currently bugged, or are they supposed to be this powerful?

I just want to slow a coaster down a few mph for a certain turn, but even the smallest segment of brakes on the lowest setting will kill like 30mph.
>>
>>332942996
Yeah, maybe it was too closely associated to the Amiga. Makes me think of Cannon Fodder, another big game closely associated with the Amiga, which I don't think is well-known in the US.

That said, EA also published SimCity 2k, which did well, so you would have though they could market something similar.
>>
>>332943183
I've figured out its tall land rides that do it.

A park with coasters only gets about 50-60fps, but I haven't got very large. I through a drop tower or an observation deck in, and it goes 1fps instantly.
>>
Is Planet Coaster going to have online like OpenRCT?
>>
>>332943349
That's not what I'm asking. I'm asking, do your horrible frame rates stay like that until the offending ride is removed, or is it only a temporary decrease, lasting a few seconds at most?
Because if it's the former then my god, that's horrible.
>>
>>332936684

>everybody dies from having their necks snapped by the first drop
>the rest of the ride is corpses being flung to and fro on high speed corners

Spooky
>>
>>332943349

Wouldn't surprise me if they do something stupid like allocate memory to 3D-space using the tallest element for the Z axis. Huge amounts of memory allocated to empty space.

Bet you anything you're maxing out your ram too.
>>
>>332943607
Its 1fps most of the time after that, even in the pause menu. It won't go above 10fps until I delete the ride.

>>332936684

How badly would you be pressed into your seat in that first drop? Your horizontal speed will go from something like 50mph to 0 in about 0.1 seconds.

A quick calculation... that would give you a vertical g-force of about 23g.
>>
>>332942480
>RCT3 did nothing wrong
RCT3 was a game that improved on
L I T E R A L L Y
E V E R Y T H I N G
except for the comfy factor and visuals.
Those two things were enough to divide the community.
>>
>>332944224

It was too easy, too many trivial objectives.

The VIP thing was tedious.
>>
>>332944224
Nah, it was clunky to play and required a top-notch PC when it was released.

I wonder if it flopped, because why hasn't there been an RCT sequel until now?

Also, why do devs insist on making PC games that require good graphics cards? Shit like RCT and Stardew Valley suggests that there's a massive untapped audience for games among people with toasters, particularly for something a bit more complex than the usual indie garbage.
>>
>>332944224
Performance was shit, and the were way too few peeps. Parks looked like ghosttowns compared to RTC2.
>>
>>332938575
The side isn't banked, so a totally flat corner at high speed would break your neck.
Those corners are fine at areas where you'll have a slow speed, but not where it is there.

>>
>>332944183
I did some calculations based on the pixel hieght of the man in entrace and the large drop (pretty authistic, i know), and came up with 20Gs of positive vertical force for about 0.2 secs.

According to wikipedia, that is more than enough to kill a man

Off-topic, but I've had a strategy game idea bouncing around my head for a few years and I'm kinda interested what you think.

Imagine SimCity, but rather than building cities, you build up planets. Planets make it easy to navigate around the world, because rather than dragging around a 2D map, you can rotate and zoom in the world, which is way less irritating than a 2D map, plus all the high-rise buildings sticking out as your planet grows will look as sexy as fuck. The size of the world creates a built-in limitation on the size of the city without seeming artificial.

And you can colonise multiple planets and create trade routes for supplies between them and shit. So, for example, you have a planet that exports water to an urban planet. And then throw in a few basic Civ-esque elements, like discovery and military shit. So if your planet that supplies water gets attacked, it becomes an "oh fuck" situation for the rest of your galaxy, as it starts fucking up your urban planet and its income and residents.

Good idea, y/n?
