I'd say not. I was more excited for it than FFXV at one point in time, and it wound up being a huge disappointment. Visually, the game doesn't really seem like an upgrade from the PSP version, especially since everything is extremely inconsistent. Things that shouldn't have reflections like grass has reflections. Main characters had their character models updated, but in the process their clothes lack the texture they used to have, which is especially a problem since characters that didn't have their models updated are still in the game.
Disregarding the visual problems, the game pits you up against much stronger enemies all the time and combat is built around the idea of losing units constantly throughout, hence why you get such a huge party. The combat is also very limited, and it would have benefitted from allowing the character to jump and do aerial combos. Some of the characters are also completely non-viable for combat, such as one excrutiatingly slow character that uses a mace.
Cutscenes for this game are hard to pay attention to, because except for the occasional FMV, the cutscenes are just of characters standing talking to each other with almost no motion all the time. Even fucking Crisis Core and Birth By Sleep on the PSP had better cutscenes by miles. The English voice acting is also really poor most of the time, with only a few decent actors. Its a huge step down from FFXIII, and a tremendous step down from FFXII.
That said, some fights can be fun and challenging once you've only got like 1-3 party members left alive and are up against bosses, and the music is fucking awesome.

The FF fan in me rates this game a 7/10 but, I would rate it as a 6.5/10. Make no mistake, its an ok game but, several of problems in the gameplay and story department. The graphics are what you would expect, it does look much better than the PSP version but, it was a PSP game after all.
With that said, 20 bucks for it is a fair price point, Type-0 is a game that you can sink dozens of hours into it. My first playthrough clocked almost at 50 hours, going at a reasonable pace doing sidequests and shit.

I dont think so. I believe it was a limited time promotion. A while ago I still had one of the 500GB hardrive for my xbone and wanted to buy a new game but, had no space. So, since the demo was among the lowest space takers I erased it. Then later I got a 2TB hardrive and wanted to reinstall the demo and I couldnt. It wasnt on the store and online said that it was limited time promotion.

I got around 400 hours out of this and the PSP version combined, it's worth it. Every character plays drastically different so you are generally going to enjoy playing as at least 4-5 of them. You will hate a few too for the same reason, but there's plenty you can play aside from those. The storyline is still XIII's world but they handled it completely different, it's much better.
