it'd be set during ww2 and it'd be an open world game like shadow of mordor, only the factions would be axis/grindlewald vs allies/'light' wizards
you'd play as a young(er) albus dumbledor finding his way in the world as you traverse the battlegrounds of magical and non magical europe, manipulating the power structure of grindlewalds forces either for the greater good or your own gain
it'd offer cannon divergence in which the end boss fight is against grindlewald, where depending on your actions throughout the game you'd either get the canon 'good' ending or you'd pick up the death stick and continue the magical conquering of mainland europe

Set a century or two before the books. In that way presentation of canonical characters wouldn't be a problem.
You start the game from character creation, selecting gender, what kind of family you're from, etc. After that you get invitation to Hogwarts. Could be that depending on the financial situation, you could get more or less money to spend on school materials, but I'm not really sure what benefits poor families would get to offset that.
Actual house selection happens when you reach Hogwarts, either depending on choices that you made in game before reaching the event, or by plain old series of choices at that point.
The game itself would be magical school simulation. You'll go through school years, with different sorts of events happening. You can take part in them or let others handle it. Depending what you, your reputation changes, fate of school might be altered, and so on.
