Even a 2.2 times faster GPU will not guarentee existing games can run at 60fps because the slow ass CPU is struggling enough as is, so a potentially doubled amount of draw calls and increased resolution will strain it even more.

When you examine cost for cost, there's zero reason to stay in the "Playstation Ecosystem". Sony has delusional aspirations for the console gaming industry, not understanding that it's a value industry first and foremost. Good entry price and long life cycles are what people look for in a console.
No real reason to pay higher prices for games, be locked into proprietary peripherals, and pay money a second time to use my own internet connection if there is no lengthy fixed hardware cycle.

It's all bullshit. they're only differentiating this POS because the original and current PS4 is literally incapable of 4K output. It does not have the right decoder.
All the 'PS4K' will be will be a PS4 with a modest overclock and RAM upgrade, plus the decoder. This only point of it will be to watch 4K bluray movies, which they'll be announcing alongside it. They'll try to say it will improve VR experience and other BS but it's truly just a modest upgrade to make the system a better bluray player.

Recently, the PS4 allowed game devs to make use of its 7th of 8 processors, normally reserving the last two processors to perform system functions, and really only future games can benefit from that.
I'm only excited for the PS4K because it will tank the secondhand PS4 market and I can get one for dirt cheap without giving any money to Sony to play the three or four games on the system I'm interested in.
ALSO, important point here, if the ps4k is that much better, devs would make games specifically for the ps4k, not the ps4, since only the 4k would have the power to run it. imagine the riots. it figures to be more powerful but 60 fps power is highly doubted.

When the Ps3 came out, ps3 was a middling PC, and with PCs coming out every year with better processors, graphics cards etc, its impossible for consoles to catch up while maintaining a lower price that everyone can go for.
Consoles are sold at a loss (most of the time) when they first come out with the price of the parts dropping as time goes on, and this is because manufacturers sell it cheap and when the person buys games they get to grab that dough too. They cant get sick hardware and sell for a super-loss to where it takes quite a few games to make up for that loss. E

They are in the business of creating cheap consumer electronics, although they have a premium line of products, the price tag really is fucking premium.
