If you're going to get a PS4 you may as well wait for the PS4K. If you have a solid PC I would say go with Playstation. Xbox is starting to get releases to Win10 so hopefully you won't miss much (I don't feel like I have missed anything besides Sunset Overdrive). Even then with games being released back on 360/PS3 you may not have missed much anyway.
Anot her good option may be to go PS3. Now that the PS4 is settled in you can get some great PS3 games for super cheap. You already know all the great exclusives and stuff it has too.Wii U is an option too.

Guess maybe it's the luck of the draw. I've had my PS3 Fat and 360 since launch and both work perfectly. I've always given them plenty of ventilation, and make sure to clean all my systems (whether they're used or not) every other month.
I've always had pretty good luck with electronics, because I baby the fuck out of them. As a kid, my family never had much money, so my dad always drilled it into my head that we need to take care of expensive things. That always stuck with me, so I treat all my electronics like fucking babies.
I guess to answer your question and stay on topic: wait to see how everything plays out with the PS4.5. A friend of mine has an XBone and completely regrets it. I have a PS4 and I like it, but I'm a little bitter to see how all this 4.5 business is playing out.

It has better exclusives right now, in comparison to PS4 if you are counting first party games. If you count the third party Japanese weeb games, and the ones coming out, then the PS4 is better. Though I would not recommend either right now.

I've had both. I played the only 2 xbox one exclusives I wanted and then it sat there for over a year and i finally sold it. Sony gets better exclusives and multiplat games tend to run better on it. PS4 has sold at least twice as many consoles as xbone, so that increases chances of multiplayer games having a longer life.

Go xbone if you have a 360, especially if you bought digital games. Backwards compatible games are being added pretty much daily now, all the multiplats are the same on both, and you will keep your friends. Also, the community is much better on the xbone. That said, if you are a weebo who likes to play games alone, then by all means, the PS4 is the way to go.

So far Xbox have better exclusive than PS4, aka Forza, Halo 5, Ori and the Blind Forest, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Sunset Overdriver, Killer Instinct, etc.
XBL gives 4 games per month against only 2 by PSN, generally good games not indies that nobody wants.
The controller is so much better, PS4 controller is fragile as a fuck. It has monthly updates that always bring improvements to the system and resources requested by the community. Backward Compatibility.
There is no reason to buy a PS4, except if you are a person who wants to brag about sales and exclusive that nobody plays.
