The studio that produced a game with the best water physics ever made and you close the studio down anyway?
They also made Motorstorm.
Why?
>Driveclub
>best anything
>rain overlay that manages to look rather nice for a change
>"physics"
Because they need like 5 millions sales to break even.
>best water physics
>doesnt even affect the car
>>332632801
well, they sold 3 mil copies (2 physical + 1 digital)
>>332632971
Clearly haven't played the game.
Wet tracks have you slipping all over the fucking place.
>>332632325
>30 fps
Who cares if it's got nice water effects. No racing simulator should be 30 fps.
>>332632325
>Track is wet.
>Tyres squeal like the are on dry surface.
Nah nigga. It's a gimmick at best, and as much as I despise project cars, the cars were more affected of the rain, and I preffered the water sprays that they left in the back, even if the visual effect in general isn't as stunning.a
I can't say anything about the rain in forza 6, because I never had the chance to play it.
>>332634038
>Driveclub
>racing sim
Pfffhahaha.
Nigga its an arcade racer through and through.
>>332634052
Forza 6 simulates hydroplaning across puddles, think it might be the only racer that does that.
>>332634313
by simulates do you mean there are actual calculations or is it just reduced friction, shit that's been around since literally any ps1 or n64 racer ice level
>>332634313
I noticed that in some videos. The hydroplane mechanic is something fresh, but it looked more like they decided to drop some puddles here and there, just for the sake of saying they have water puddles though.
>>332635721
It seems to only kick in if you are going fast enough through the puddle, not sure if there are any super complex calculations going on but it's at least a bit more than a simple reduced friction effect.
>>332632325
had to save that money to make the PS4K anon!
get hyped for Drive Club 4K re-release!
is project cars the best racing sim to start with on steam?
I ask and then people say it's not a sim
then what is a real racing sim pls help
>>332636461
I see, thanks. must be a threshold of speed or maybe speed vs. weight if they wanted to get that complicated with it. I would also imagine steering to be impeded or negated as it would be in a real life setting. a several ton hunk of metal flying across a surface it can't grip is no joke, shit is scary
>>332632325
>game supposed to be a launch title
>delay it for a year
>release it with EXTREME lack of content
>online mode -which is the main and most marketed feature- does not work and is literally broken
>fix the online mode more than half a year after release and with external engineers help
>the demo version of the game which was supposed to come out with the game released more than a yea after release
>this whole situation caused a massive pr disaster for Sony
They should have just made Motorstorm PR 2.
Seriously, I'm surprised it took Sony this long to close the studio.
Also, the weather update came like six months after release.
>>332633907
The game was heavily bundled, and its price dropped so fast. Hell, you could get the game and the season pass from the PS store for $15.
>>332636593
It's the one that has some interesting content, and tends to forgive some driving mistakes too.
Sim wise, it has the potential, it's just that it's being developed by assholes that are already working on pCars 2
I like Driveclub but the no multiplayer thing is criminal. Kills the longevity.
>>332637607
>no multiplayer thing
Wasn't the point of the game multiplayer with "clubs" you "drive" in?
>>332632656
It was Alpha texture shaders running on a pre-set pattern based on car movement over the windscreen. It was nice trickery but there was no actual water physics to it. Never mind the fact the rain didn't even affect gameplay other than slightly reduced grip. Driveclub occasionally looked pretty in motion, but there was never any real substance to it.
>>332634313
Project Gotham 4 had it though the puddle physics were pre-baked so you would hydroplane even at low speeds. Wasn't a sim but it was a nice feature.
>>332637869
No local I mean, I couldn't care less about online. I have a £50 paperweight right now. If the batteries weren't so bad I would never use my second controller.
>>332636847
I reckon Driveclub was the reason GT6 released on the PS3 instead of PS4 launch, so they wouldn't have their own games directly competing on one console.
Sony would have been fucking furious with them having to delay and miss that launch window, with no exclusive racer on PS4 for a year.
Not even mentioning the disaster the launch was, I can't believe Evo made it through 2015.
Now we will never have a new Motorstorm because of this shit game.
>>332638292
seeing lots of motorstorm support itt. I played the demo a few times and it felt pretty arcadey, which was a turnoff. maybe I didn't look far enough into it. should I revisit it?
>>332638948
Well it's not realistic if that's what you want, but it's worth giving another go. I think Pacific Rift is regarded as the best one.
The main appeal of it is having so many different vehicle types racing at the same time and having to find your optimal path through the track depending on your chosen vehicle.
They couldn't compete with the near realism of Forza 6
>>332637891
>look what I googled
Driveclub is getting more hate on /v/ than any other driving game ever created.
I wonder how few have actually played it.

>any other game created
>this is my first thread
Fucking newfags.
>>332637569
>tfw bought pCARS back in 2012.
>Got every €45 back earlier last year.
>bought pCARS2 when it was annnounced.
>suddenly I have €52 on my paypal.
I have gotten more money back than I spent on those games.
>>332643136
I've (unfortunately) been on /v/ since 2004.
And no other driving game as generated this much assblast.
>best water physics ever made
>not Forza 6 puddles&aquaplaning
>>332643532
>no other racing game has been this shit blasted
Then you weren't here for Project Cars release. The biggest reason DC gets shit blasted is because faggots kept posting those low fucking resolution rain videos and shilling about how it was an amazing looking game with great physics. In every sing driving thread. Added with all the BS the devs pulled.

Go away, marketer
>>332643981
> and shilling about how it was an amazing looking game
But that is true, it is the best looking driving game.
> with great physics. In every sing driving thread.
Literally lies. I've been in every DC thread I've seen on /v/ and not once has anyone mentioned physics in a positive manner.
It's full arcade game where you can't even go off-track.
>>332644913
>(you)
>>332644951
> (you) (you)
>>332644145
Such shitty visuals, i can't look at them, literally hurting my eyes.
>>332644145
Don't they know that AFx16 is a damn mandatory thing post 2001?
>>332645138
But anon, the rain.
>>332645279
Jesus Christo, that looks ass. Motherfucking Forza 4 still looks sharper than that.
>>332645279
>fullbright
>>332638948
Try Pacific Rift which is the best one. Motorstorm 1 is good but there is no much content and is rough around the edges. Motorstorm 3 is terrible imo.
>tfw we will never get an open-world Motorstorm set in Pacific Rift's island
>>332643035
I did, and besides graphics it was terrible.
Shitty driving physics, lack of content even after all the updates, laughable customization, rubber band ai, and much more.
