yeah, I got the same email. That being said...this is literally the biggest thing to happen to eve in years, so I can't fault them for trying.

when was the fountain war? I remember that being pretty cool

Goons renting from TEST by May, Mittens on suicide watch- Supers and FCs defecting.

What's going on in EVE?

What are the chances my ship is still intact in wormhole space?

Apparently Goonswarm I guess it's the Imperium now fucked over one too many alliances and now everyone's either fighting against them or jumping ship and not supporting the goon faction.

I'm not sure what's been happening recently since I only heard about the beginning, and that thread was like a week ago?

If Goons die, it will be a grand war.
>>
I absolutely love the concept of EVE Online, the stories it tells, the complete player interaction with the universe, and the mega-corporations that hold parts of the universe.

But the actual game is just so bad and the skill floor is so high and grindy. Oh well.
>>
>>332589225
>S-STUFFS HAPPENING

Lol no. Wars are by far the worst part of Eve.

>>332596046
Man I use to play YEARS ago, and even being a little nobody you can sign up with a smaller corp and make an alliance with bigger ones. They have more space than they can use, they want to do the pew pew thing.
Yeah the skill thing is too high unless you play for years, and then run multiple accounts. Like if I could of got a freighter and set up my own POS I probably would of kept playing if I wanted a second account and could run cyno fields and jump stuff even though it would of been like an actual job more than playing. Then after some time off it's like you'll never catch up on skill points. The pew pew thing is a little too straight up of a fight than I'd prefer in an MMO blob vs blob. Team work isn't a bad thing but to organize it like you're going to end up with a blob looking for another blob. Just sort of lacks randomness for me.
I heard they were changing ship sizes/rad signatures/speeds and stuff like a year or two ago I wonder if that improved stuff at all.
>>
>>332596496
>laggy clusterfucks
>entire 'war' can be summerised up by 'which side made some stupid mistake and everyone else just swarmed them'
>are limited events that dont actually change anything for 99% of the player base and always conclude the same way, X gets rekt, Y takes over, new galactic stalemate occurs
Corp conflicts are fun, nullsec fighting is fun, these mega wars were, are, and will always be utter shit.
>>
They should make it so there is some NPC based faction that spends its entire time trying to obliterate the top corps so others can take their place

Static universe in a sandbox killed Eve

I'd play eve if I didn't have to grind 24/7 for weeks to get a single plex because I'm not part of the cool kids club aka high level alliances.

I won't pay for a sub though, fuck that.

what if i was in TEST years ago? i dont even know if those fags are still active but i sure as hell aint making a brand new character just for a clear corp/alliance history
>>

Oh you were part of TEST? Shit go back to them. They're heading up on of the fronts in the war right now.
>>
>>332599631
im not the same person as the first one you replied to, but i was in a tiny corp that was part of test, mostly miner wageslaves
>>
>>332599767
I don't know how TEST would handle that. Still, go ahead and rejoin them anyway.
>>
My issue with EvE is the gameplay itself.

The skill waiting, 1 frame per minute wars, horrible flight mechanics and grind that makes runescape and korean MMOs look like WoW.

If I"m in a game like this, I want to walk around my own ship. I want to crew a large ship with multiple other people in my guild. I want boarding action. I want skills that I actively level up.

Basically, FTL MMO when?
>>
>>332599418
Nothing against you or EVE tho, I really do love the concept. I remember watching all the trailers in high school and trying to convince my friends to play it with me but they "didn't want a job". I tried it out but ultimately the game play just didn't 'click'.
>>
>>332599991
i agree with you

one thing i ALWAYS wanted out of eve was less focus on the ships and more on the characters, i loved the captains quarters thing but they never went anywhere with it which is a damn shame. multi crew ships would be dope as hell but i have no idea how you'd balance that shit. maybe re-work titans into it. dunno.

as for boarding...maybe incorporate dust players into it, since as a capsuleer you're kind of supposed to be above that grunt combat stuff.
>>
>>332600221
That's basically the main issue with CCP, they have all these cool ideas but they don't go anywhere with them, never fleshing them out to their full potential.

>you will never launch a great crusade to reunite the galaxy under the flag of the emperor
EVE is the only game where you can do this
yet it will never happen
>>
>>332600848
You'd need about 200,000 players and a few million dollars (real moolah) to make that happen.
>>
>>332601090
200.000 players is more than twice EVEs playerbase
maybe with 10.000

>>
>>332600221

What are you talking about? Captains Quarters shit was the most hated thing on Eve that people protested about it
>>
>>332601315
He said he wanted to unite the stars, I'm saying that's what he'll need.

Anything less than that runs the possibility of a never ending stalemate.

they do this twice a year stupid ass

they aren't desperate, they posted record profits last year
>>
>>332599482
>paywall
how?
>>
>>332602113
Revenue is arguably more important than profit because you can increase profit via budget cuts, reduced expenses, or increased payment from a smaller market.
>>
>>332602387
>revenue is more important than profit
are you fucking retarded? do you know what you're talking about at all?
>>
>>332602387
Higher profit means their revenue is up dude.
>>

>actually stealing the broski logo

>>
>>332602703
Or they cut costs.
>>
>>332602579
>>332602703
Please read the second part of my post. I'm just saying you can't always trust profits because of the ability to increase profits without increased revenue. Also take into account where their revenue is coming from- EVE or a separate project?

Jeez guys, no reason to lash out.
>>
>>332602947
which they didn't. And cutting costs doesn't increase profit, cutting costs is done to avoid deficits

Revenue is up because of their release of skins, skill extractor/injectors, and numerous other services. This war means the player count is going up and citadels are coming out too.

>>332603209
except thats not how businesses work
>>
>>332589225

F2P when?
>>
>>332603209
>Also take into account where their revenue is coming from- EVE or a separate project?
its coming from EVE and EVE alone, Dust514 isn't closed yet, legion died years ago, and EVE valkyrie isn't out yet. Their profits are coming from EVE
>>
>>332603284
Revenue - Costs = Profit.
>>
>>332603426
And thats not how businesses work

cutting costs = reducing deficits, maintaining efficiency.

eg; wages go up, business compensates by laying off workers to maintain their profit curve

You know, I was a goon for a few months. It was alright. Like playing with /v/, but they were actually good. Got tired of watching autists cry about irrelevant shit like tv and movies, though. So yeah, just like /v/.
Ended up quitting without even bothering to say goodbye, like in most MMOs I've played.
>>
>>332603559
Are we talking in terms of accounting or business management?
>>
>>332589225
Did Dust514 have anything special before it shut-down had around 7 mill SP
>>
>>332603649
Goons are getting their shit pushed in, join any alliance fighting them and have fun!
>>
>>332589225
I have too many games in queue and other MMOs to add EVE to my list.
>>
>>332603771
>terms of accounting
thanks for proving you don't know what you're talking about
>>
>>332603919
So business management then.
>>
>>332603284
>Same amount of revenue as last quarter
>Less amount of expenses compared to last quarter (i.e. cutting off a department or laying off employees)
>Overall increase in profit/income
I don't understand.
>>
>>332601376
well im in the minority, the vast majority of the playerbase is fine with how the game is, but theres a few like me that wish stuff like the CQ was more common.

imagine drifting in your cloaked ship in a safe spot, get up and go see your planetary stuff or news via the big tv thing like in the cq while the stars drift by

shit would be cash
>>
Except CCP didn't do that
