Hey /v/! Remember how great of a game gta 5 was? Remember that one memorable scene from the game where you get into a Dodo, fly above a plane, jump out of the dodo, land on the plane then are entered into a first person sequence where you need to kill all the mafia members on the plane before it lands? Ha! I do too!

I don't remember much of the story it was not that good nor memorable - went to a two full play-troughs - one on early release xbox 360 and a replay on PC release.

I still don't remember much - but online heists were more memorable.
Probably because I made an connection with the character more than with story protagonists - brain prioritizez stuff to remember based on emotions.

But I have a comfy feeling when I recall the jewel store heist and the small bank one, also I remember some of the side missions - like the one where Franklin talks with the dog.

Modded GTA V with IV's physics, car mechanics, ragdolls, police system and behavior restored, as well as the extra trees and palm trees, vegetation, extra npc behaviors, extra fucktons of traffic to mimick a lesser actual LA, and general map editing is the best GTA game period, with the best radio for hiphop heads and a custom radio for anyone else.

Prove me wrong. You can't. The best part is doing all this shit is pathetically easy with OpenIV, and you can choose what to add and what not to. You can't deny the graphics are already excellent as is, especially with grass on ultra, but the extra shine easily puts V above all the others. Deny it and you're a nostalgia baby.

it's a god damn shame the faggot doesn't update his mods. always puts something out that's promising, but then he NEVER FUCKING UPDATES IT, leaves it unfinished, and moves onto the next unfinished piece of shit.

I've been trying to play this game recently.

I have a problem where if I start driving really fast the game will just freeze up for a second, keep going, then freeze up. It makes the game unplayable. I am using a GTX 970, does anyone else know how to fix this issue? I've tried lowering the graphics settings to the lowest possible and it'll still happen. I think it's the game trying to load in people/textures/etc or some shit, but it also happens if I crash at high speeds.

I crash, the game locks up for a second, then keeps going.

GTA:O characters have a really bad case of same-face. They're sadly not too interesting to look at.
>>
>>332574924

The way they build the maps is that they take the most recognizable or interesting parts and compress them into a caricature of the real life area. Or places that serve the story, like how basically half of Los Santos was the hood in SA. It feels a bit weird in some places in V, like how when you leave downtown and drive under that one bridge, you're suddenly in Compton

You can walk 13 miles and not see even a quarter of that city, and that's just Manhattan without Brooklyn or the Bronx.

There are alot fewer streets in IV than in the actual city, what V did better than IV was capturing the flavor of the city. Actual NYC is incredibly colorful and varied, it's depiction in-game is contrastingly bland and grey.

This,

each "place" in the game had its own "biome" for lack of a better term. In GTAV the "biomes" are too small and its easy to cross from port of city, through compton, suddenly you're in the financial district

same way with grape seed and the deserts

you go from the rolling hills of the north city, suddenly you're in wine country/farm land, then suddenly you're in the desert

While the map was big itself, the biomes were not, Wine country isn't big enough, the financial district isn't big enough, hollywood isn't big enough, compton isn't big enough, deserts aren't big enough.

Surprisingly though, the mountain was 40% of the map was the only remotely large place in the game, it was actually like a real huge mountain.

They cover about the same area. What makes IV feel bigger is a) you need to take bridges from one district to another b) the blocks are smaller and denser. In V you can drive across the whole city on one super wide street and it makes it feel much smaller, not to mention that you can drive faster in V

GTA V's story starts between August and October.
>advertisement on the the side of a strip mall in Davis stating that it's having a "Summer Sale on flat-screen TVs"
>calendar in Trevor's trailer is open on August
>calendar in Lester's House shows September
>after Franklin moves to Vinewood Hills you can find a bank statement dated for September, for transactions made in August
>During the mission "Cleaning out the Bureau", a calendar briefly seen in Harvey Molina's apartment is also open on the month of September
>Towards the end/completion of the storyline, one of the barbers in Sandy Shores might comment on how it is "October already"
>Some houses have pumpkins on their front porches
>Michael's comment in Sandy Shores of how "a few weeks ago" he was at his pool, retired

So the story takes place over the course of a couple months, and it seems like Rockstar scattered little things to hint towards what actual time of year it is, with the references becoming later in the year the further into the story you get. This would work if it wasn't a sandbox game where you can go to previous locations, but still, it helps.
>>
>>332576302
Thiiiiisss. They don't mesh well together when they don't all feel expansive. It's only expansive when you factor it all in. Yeah, it's actually still amazing to walk around in and marvel at the insane detail, but it could have blended a bit better.

It's such a tough thing to tackle because didn't they say V was more than Rdr and SA combined? And yet you can't help but want to ask for more. The layout just could have been better despite how impressive it is.

It truly is a mini LA. I can definitely admire that they captured the vibe though. Especially at sunset when you're driving around these hilly roads and you get a nice view of the load of silhouetted palm trees against the sunset.

Sometimes I like to pretend I'm in nightcrawler and I just go around chasing cops chasing npc so I can take camera photos of the action. The vibe is there but you still can't help but be disappointed. V got held back from the last gen.

Gang crime is actually the same if not slightly higher than it was in the 90s. It's just not glorified as much because everyone's used to it. Rockstar just didn't want to rehash that tone. It's a shame because gang missions and mechanics in SA were what converted everyone into believing in games about niggers being fun.

I see people complain about GTA V being "empty" yet they never post their 100% completion of it. You not bothering to play the game and it being empty are two different things.

Remove the babby counter-steer
Use the Classic Handling handling.meta for IV handling

Counter Steer removal makes it so there's no weird understeer, drifting works, and the game doesn't hold your hand anymore.
All the Classic Handling does is make brakes not some super magical force, add some weight to the vehicles, fix suspension, and a few other things.

It doesn't really emulate IV's driving, but it's a perfect mix between IV's slippery driving and V's arcadey stuck to the road shit.

You're not playing some "dum dum 2EZ" shit, and you're not driving on ice.
>>
>>332576302

In SA it was a lot to do with how the areas were sectioned. The city is pretty tiny but it's broken into these different parts, there's no straight route from one place to another. The highway and sewer canals divide the different districts and you need to move across bridges, the street layout is also such that you need to make turns instead of just driving straight ahead. I drew some different routes from Grove Street to downtown

It's also funny looking at how half of the city is dedicated to the different gangs because that was the central theme in the story
>>
>>332577608
I love V's seemingly worthless activites. Nobody I know appreciates all of the underwater bits or the cycling, or even just hunting. But I love it.

What I love the most though is all the secret shit they hid this time. To this day people are still doing the chilliad mystery, and they're still adding shit like the golden peyote and bigfoot.

They didn't have this degree of secret shit before. And I genuinely CANNOT explore the haunted mines. I once went in there and heard some weird alien shit, and just sitting there in the dark and listening outs me on fucking edge now. If anything were to somehow secretly spawn in there just because I stumbled in on the right second at the right pixel, I would have a mini heart attack. Get in that bitch with headphones and tell me it isn't spooky. Actual easter egg shit like the ghost doesn't compare to a world that feels like it can toss random events and sounds at you. I always hear weird fucking shit when I turn off the music and go out of the city. The game has so much going for it, but they can never get all the right elements just right to elevate it to god status.

i think IV had the best missions. people rag on them for their "simplicity" but I think that's actually what made them great. A lot of them boil down to "shooting guys" which gave them a good opportunity to give them some really cool atmospheres. That museum shootout is incredible, IMO the best mission in the series. There's also the mission with the bike chase on the subway, and you're dodging trains, and it's awesome.

The fact that the missions were a bit more grounded in reality, made them very immersive to me. Another one that stands out to me: chasing the punk on a scooter through Middle Park. It was neat how they made a chase out of such a slowish vehicle in a crowded location.

I thought those paths are a bit dull compared to SA. The mountain hardly made sense in that game but it was cool how the paths spiraled up the mountain. I had a lot of fun trying to drive a truck to the top, or driving around while cops were after me and watching them fly off the paths. Then again I was 14 so those things probably wouldn't be as fun anymore. I've driven up Chiliad in V a couple times but it's pretty lackluster

I can't really remember a lot, I suppose it had a few landmarks here and there, the downtown area had some work done at least. But the suburbs were mainly just endless rows of identical houses, I think that's how the game dealt with the big size, it would literally move around the same models into new places as you drove through the city. Or something like that. There was zero incentive to go explore anything. Though in one way the barren streets felt like some kind of strange limbo. You would run over to the next block and it would be exactly the same. Uncanny

The second game in Manhattan had a bit more detail to it but you could still see the same houses pop up over and over as you drove along the shore highway across Manhattan

Nigger what the fuck, we're in the internet age. Google it in 3 seconds on your fucking phone. Who are you complaining for. The term fits the movie thematically. The commercials don't all feature coyotes for no reason

I don't know they probably changed their "artistic vision"

That sounds neat. I'd play it for the limbo experience if it had graphics mods

well i loved Johnny and VC, used to love Victor cause i played vcs before vc, but upon finding who his brother is fuck the faggot, also there's no particular gta i hate but i liked IV the least, not because it was bad, but fuck some of the physics, driving a coquette was awesome, but any van or heavy truck was just so edgy, thank god they kind of fixed the physics in TLAD and TBOGT

i feel like the next-gen/PC version of the character creator is a lot better, yet there are no guides for creating characters out there.

I love gta online. I wish it had 64 instead of 32 players.

Thanks.

The mark on the face under her right eye is from a car accident though. It's still fucking stupid that that kind of shit just stays on your character

Bruises come from doing heists and other criminal activity.

It goes away if you go long enough without being a naughty person.

At least in my experience.
>>
>>332587167
To be fair women in GTA:O tend to look like men,as much as it's not a very pretty face,it's certainly one of the least manly ones I've seen so far.
>>
>>332577429
I played San Andreas AFTER I played GTAV and I still thought SA felt bigger.

They put actual thought in their design instead of a lazy "realistic" map.
>>
>>332587591

Running into and killing NPC drivers isn't naughty though, it doesn't affect your mental state

why is it every time I take my bicycle out, it becomes a "RUN ME OVER" magnet.

for fucks sake
>>
>>332588865

because running people over that are on bikes is hilarious

especially when you're driving a car that doesn't have an angled windshield so they get stuck on it until you hit the brakes

>not buying the race car or z-type

For good looking cars these go really fucking fast. Faster then most super cars too.

>>332588865
No one runs me over. Usually I go out to bike and then a hacker kills everyone on the server because LEL SO FUNNAY

I tp'd everyone once and told them that if they played along they all got 1 bil and level 120, they did and I changed them to colonial clothes and told them to have a civil war, stripped all their weapons and gave them muskets.

Fun as fuck to watch

So many restrictions and lack of character customisation and modding makes this game not fun. You enter a lobby, you get blown the fuck up 40 times in 2 seconds and you can go ahead and report that guy, rockstar won't give a shit.

But god forbid you were to add a vehicle mod. Thats insta-ban. God, I remember the times I was just fucking DREAMING of getting GTA V. Now that I've finally bought it, I got bored of it after 50 hours, and so did all my friends I played online with.

I drive the hummer for now, I want more beefy military looking cars I can pad my garage out with but for now the only car I own is the hummer.

Might buy Trevor's jeep truck thing if I ever get around to it.

My character wears a camo blazer and combat boots all the time so it fits the theme I'm going with. To bad that I can't make her /fit/ like MaryAnn.
