you are right, that doesnt sound reasonable at all, to the point that i doubt thats what happened. Blizz came out and said they had been consdiering changing the pose for a while and most of the art team wasnt happy with it. To me that sounds like a much more reasonable explanation than blizz freaking out over 1 person and making a change completely out of the blue.
and if thats the case then we have an instance of a games creators making a minor alteration before the game is even released. Forgive me, but that just doesnt seem like something toget up in arms about.

they specifically said they just didnt like how it fit with tracers character. The inclusion of similar poses on characters like widowmaker or symetra suggest blizz isnt against sexualizeing, just rather they are targeting that sexualization rather than spreading it willy nilly over the entire cast.
