Feels like it's been a long time since I've broken out an old jrpg. How's it hold up?
It's not an amazing game by any means but it's decent enough to be worth playing. A solid 7/10. The translation is hot garbage, though.

Xenogears stands the test of time. I beat it again last year and it still stands above other RPGs. So much so that every new JRPG will look like otaku pandering fanservice shit.
Xenosaga trilogy is great too, but starts slow, dips with the second, but finishes really fucking strong with the third.

Not him. The combat is a bit outdated however the story is 10/10. Also getting your Gears(robots) and seeing how they look for the first time is always amazing.

Absolutely. It's a funny series though, because 2 will be a better game if you have played the first one and transferred your save, but suikoden 1 is a very dated game. Still a lot of fun, but for some people can put them off continuing with the series because it is pretty old school. S2 is a masterpiece though, story, soundtrack, amazing sprite art and in my opinion, the best boss battle in any rpg.

Even with the second disc? I've been playing a lot of the classics I missed not having a PS1 coming up and I was thinking about getting Xenogears, but everyone says the game falls apart during the second disc.
