Which one is the one Nvidia doesn't render obsolete with drivers?
>>
>>332540904
Polaris fags may need to apply, lets not pretend the 1070 could sound amazing on paper and then be gimped to fuck through memory.

If it isn't higher than 6gb it may as well be DOA.

Hah, you got exactly my point.

Honestly the 970 seemed a good card until a month later, and a lot of AMD stuff hasn't been too good on drivers until recently.

I have a shitty 750ti for £70 and I've been sitting with my thumb up my ass for two years as most of the cards out have been shite. 390's look good but this close to the 1070 I may as well wait.

Depends.

I have a high end 980 Ti right now, and it depends on how well Pascal performs. If it can deliver on its promise of 2X performance in both 1440p and 4K (using 1440p at the moment, and eventually getting a 4K TV) THEN I will sell my 980 Ti and get a Pascal card. I am talking at least SLI levels of performance on a single card for me to switch.

If its just a marginal gain, then nah. I can wait. I might SLI together another 980 Ti if it goes this way, since it will be way cheaper once the 1080 and 1070 hit.
>>

They run like shit for just about everything. They're all horribly optimized.
Apparently DaS3 has similar issues.
Its rather frustrating, its obviously all just for the sake of forcing people to upgrade despite the difference in graphics between 2010 and now being negligible/over-reliance on #POST_PROCESSING that most people fucking try to turn off anyways.

I literally put together my new pc (970 and I54690K) 2 days ago and there isn't a game I can't run at at least very high at 60. Only reasons why 970 will be a problem for you is if

A- DX12 becomes THE THING in every single game in a year
B- you play on a higher resolution in which case 3.5 meme will show

Currently testing out multiple games but so far I've had no issues with games except from having to cut out on shit like ULTRA MSAAX54 and Gimpworks but that's expected I believe from a 3.5g 300 dollars card.

I agree with you completely, and that's why I find naive to bash AMD for their drivers since they've been really good for years now. I had a 7870 and now a 390X and the only problem I had with drivers was that Crimson fan lock, which I managed to fix the first time it appeared since I always monitor shit.

As someone who just bought a 970 after months of thinking it over against the 390, I think I can help with that.

Although the r9 390 appears to be an overall better card, I think there are 3 major factors that people like me considered. I don't consider myself an nvidiashill since I've used AMD all my life and my last card before the 970 was an HD5770.

1- Heat. the 390 produces more heat and despite being a subject that arguably is dumb since it's not THAT much more heat, it raises concern on most people
2- Power Usage. Also not a huge difference as nvidia fans will say, but still a "buzzword" so to say that raises eyebrows on a possible consumer that often just looks for stability and reliability (even if it's from nvidia)
3- Punishment vote. Most AMD users like myself have gone through years of shitty drivers, shitty support, nvidia contracts and overall being fucked in the ass by AMD. I know they are changing ffor the better now but yet their reputation stick like glue. No matter which cards or how objectively better AMD becomes, the seed of mistrust in it's old users is so deep that it will take a LOT to overcome. It's not an "I like Nvidia" situation it's the opposite. It's "Fuck AMD i'm fucking done supporting these pieces of shit that fuck me in the ass with the only excuse that nvidia will theorically do it with a bigger penis"

Aw, come on. I was about to RMA my faulty 780Ti and pay the price difference to get a 980Ti...
When are the new ones coming out?

1080p should be great

1440p is ok but 970 struggles under heavy load on newer games 40-50fps medium-high settings AA turned off and draw distance lowered that is how the division is setup up for my 970
