Pretty good. I'll always hate the main story and the voiced protagonist but everything else has come together for me. Well I'd like an overhaul of skills and skill checks implemented over the charisma check in favor of the repair, medicine, science, survival,sneak, barter, explosives,energy weapoms, and guns check.

More of a Stat-based FPS than a true RPG, and in that respect its pgud. Not worth full retail though, pirate that shit.
It's such a scattershot of ideas, that I keep finding something enjoying to do. Never competently but that's what modders are for. Right now I am replacing all my provisioners with robots but I finally ran out of a materiel so now I am back to hunting for rubber and I don't really know why.

I agree that it is better than fallout 3 in every way. It has some major issues, such as most rpg elements being removed entirely, and it sure aint new vegas, but its still quite good overall.
Its eh for me, the new survival mode is pretty fun though.

The main story is ass, but the rest of the game is fine.
They should get Sawyer on the phone now that he is independent.
Then again the games sell on name alone, and new fans of the series don't really car about the older lore, so it is up to you if you want to put up with one of the MOST idiotic stories in vidya for a mediocre pseudo RPG with bad FPS mechanics, and bullet sponge enemies.
There is some charm to it, but unlike FO3 I cannot overlook the faults here, not after New Vegas.
Something that happens with FO4 and many other AAA games of these days:

feels like a copy-paste rehash of FO3 mixed with Skyirim, but with less character than those games had
features an even more retarded story than FO3 (3 mostly shat the bed during its end, whereas 4 is just retarded six ways to sunday. There is literally no faction that I want to side with because they're all more terrible than the next)
VO'd player-character is the worst addition ever, and it constantly fucks up suspension of disbelief
