CataclysmPre-nerfs, and every expansion's final raid is usually total aids and lasts way too long.If the changes to 1-60 were optional like choosing between pre and post WoD Blasted Lands, Cata would be hailed as the greatest expansion, as there was plenty to do endgame

What's with the Mists of Pandaria revisionists on /v/? It was an absolutely awful expansion that had nothing going for it for a long time.
The dailies were placed on different corners of the map, and it took forever getting to them.
Isle of Thunder is when people started to appreciate the expansion. A daily hub with quests located at a reasonable distance from each other, and a raid that was enjoyable.
Timeless Isle was a great place to gear alts and your main by finding the rare items which upgraded gear. Also the 24 hour killing of rares.

That's precisely it, alongside the many dumb meme quests and the neutered difficulty of 1-60 leveling.
Again, proper phasing and letting people choose between Old and New 1-60 would have been the one thing keeping Cata from being the best expansion in people's eyes. Casuals get their leveling experience, while dedicated players can do the original experience, still rely on community, and feel much more rewarded for their efforts.
Well, that and limit LFD to realms only and not crossrealm. LFD would have been perfect if it didn't bring people from other servers who had nothing to lose.
Dragon Soul was more fun than people remember. It was the last boss that was awful, and the retarded cinematic afterwards that soured it. 8 months of it curdled the milk.

Launch MoP was not that great, you're right, and 5.1 felt a little lacking.
However, 5.2 was one of the best patches the game has ever seen. It raised MoP from a decent expansion with a controversial theme to an exceptional expansion with a metric ton of content. It is MoP's Ulduar - people seem to forget that before Ulduar came out, WotLK felt somewhat lacking itself.

PVP was ridiculously unbalanced in MoP. PVE was too easy. Life pool was reaching millions. There was nothing really going on until the ending. Lore-wise the expansion is dead. There was nothing interesting about the new areas.
