just dumbed down, consolized System Shock 2 clones.
BS1 goes as a decent HL1-clone shooter, and is neatly atmospheric. BS2 has better gameplay and playing as Big Daddy is fun, but in general it has that expansion-pack feel to it.
BS:Infinite is a mess. The story would've worked much better in some other genre, but the devs just had to try and jam all their BS basic tropes into even more ancient era.

I think most people have a bad impression of Bioshock 2 because of its multiplayer, they really didn't need to add it on.
Got to admit, that Minevera's Den DLC was amazing though.

1 was mediocre, on the same ball-park of Dishonored, DX HR, Thief 3, and so on.
It felt lacking as if something was stripped from it. Funnily enough, I ended playing SS2 after it and found what it was missing.
Also making a game in which water is a core element (bio means water) and not putting underwater sections in it, is a gigantic pussy move; even Dishonored had swimming.
Haven't played the other 2.

1) great story and atmosphere.
2) Improved gameplay. Story and atmosphere suffer.

I luckily decided to try SS2 just before the release of BS1, thinking I'd prepare myself for the potential GOTY of '07. To my own surprise, I found one of the best games ever made, and BS was disappointing afterwards.

Infinite is possibly the most disappointing game ive ever played. Loved the atmosphere and story, but god damn the gameplay was fucking boring. Still wouldnt compare to SS2 though. Havent played Bioshock 2 yet.
