Keyboard and mouse are better for FPS and RTS, but for classic games and genres, 360 controller is best, except for fighting games and games like metal slug.

It is the best controller, you can simply not use the d pad for anything and stick to the stick for everything.

the xbox 360 controller is good because comfy to hold and it's immediately compatible with nearly everything on steam. the actual controller isn't that great. d-pad sucks, joysticks have massive deadzone/terrible range and the face buttons are clicky and hard to press compared to nintendo and sony's comfy, squishy face buttons.
but considering how infrequently i play pc games, it's just more effort than it's worth to set up joy 2 key for my preferred pad, so i just plug in my shitty 360 controller and deal with it.

I use the ps3 controller right now, and it sucks.
Mini usb connection is horrible, the battery lasts little now that it is old, one of my controllers I dropped water on ti and is now fucked forever.
