Not many follow up moves leave you vulnerable long enough to get hit by that move. Using it as Kirby is like offering your opponent a free grab.

Only fsmash is remotely spammy, and that can still be punished by shieldgrabs or shield into a fast option like jab.

It leaves him exposed and its small hitbox means many aerials or bigger attacks can hit him out of it.

Yeah, but his low run speed and small grab range make getting these grabs difficult.

Wrong. Most true combos work the same at low percents. He is light so it means they stop working sooner, but that's just because he dies at 80% where other characters die at 100%.

Spacing aerials so your hurtbox is slightly to the left/right of kirby makes downb a risky option, as although it'll be safe from your aerial he's vulnerable when he pops out since proper spacing means you won't get hit. This is mainly a big deal against swordfighters who have a really good disjoint.

Incorrect, from experience Bowser, DK, Charizard, and D3 all have their usual guaranteed combos on him. The former two even have kill combos out of a grab that work on kirby.

Low air speed, small jump height, small aerial hitboxes, and a vulnerable up b make challenging kirby off stage not particularly difficult. If you can hit him once or twice offstage he's probably not going to be coming back.
This isn't to say Kirby is bad. But he has very big weaknesses that make it very hard to do the stuff he wants too, and this keeps him from being a top tier. The gap from mid and low in sm4sh is really puny too, so kirby being a low tier instead of mid/high mid is almost certainly due to a lack of tournament results.

He's a monster when gets in, but good players don't allow that to happen.
Kirby main here, his biggest issues stem from how low of priority most of his attacks have which is especially a problem when you have to fight a character that outspeeds you. characters like Sheik or Corrin can be really frustrating when the other player is playing like a little bitty bitch. I will admit nothing is more satisfying than a dthrow combos that sweep from one side of the stage to the other dair into fgrab into fair or another dair rinse and repeat.
