I felt the same from the little I tried myself. When DaS just came to PC I figured I'd replay it on SL1 without deaths. I had just obtained the Lordvessel when I realized that I didn't have any viewers, and only one random kid had left a rude comment in the chat.

You have to be comfortable with silence (but also realize that you do have to be entertaining). You have to learn to stop checking your chat box every second when you only have 3 viewers. Due to a small number of viewers, realize that they too are also feeling shy as fuck.

I've seen small time streamers (ie 1-10 viewers usually), with a very active chat. I've seen big time (50-500) streamers with an inactive chat. It really just comes down to the actual streamer.

What is your top 5 favorite games?

I will recommend books based on what games you like.

I've only been reading books for about 5 years now. So I know your feel. But books are the shit if you finally get into them.
>>
>>332516181
I keep hearing everywhere it's easier for girl, so I'm tempted to say probably.
My roommate, who was a girl, tried streaming for a while and had a relatively fast early success, despite not having a game that didn't come out yet, like I did. She had a very obvious donation button, but I don't think she streamed for long, so I guess she didn't gain much out of it.
Don't have a great memory, so I'm a but unsure, though her not streaming for long is something I'm sure of.

By starting to read a book with no pressure attached. No deadlines, no forcing to memorize anything, stopping when you want and leaving the book if it does not intrigue you.

I can try suggesting you a book.

What type of stories do you enjoy? Do you like sci-fi games, or are you an ace attorney fan? Intrigue or whimsical?
>>
>>332516274

There are all kinds of great books, anon. Don't let /lit/ fags convince you that genre fiction is a waste of time, either. Personally, I read a ton of old sci-fi/noir/philosophy. Yeah from SMT I really loved it's relation of Law, Neutral and Chaos and it changed my life when I think of moral ambiguity, anything like that to me is always really interesting. I liked Death Note a lot, I've noted the rest so thanks for those. Oddly, I'm not sure how much I take to humor, in UT I much prefer the idea that no one is completely right rather than the cutesy stuff (even though I like cutesy stuff)

Anyway if I streamed I'd really want voice despite hating mine, and I'd stream pic related or games like it, interesting, less well known games that should spur conversation. This or Incredible Crisis, stuff like that.
>>
>>332517074
Ha! Got it spot on with the ace attorney guess.

I'd suggest you the Harry Dresden series. Wizard/private detective mixed with your average demons/vampires/etc and a good batch of humor. They are short and easy to read, plus enjoyable. Not the greatest but it is a good start.

Anything by Agatha Christie for a detective/thriller with nothing more is also great. She is a master of that genre. And then were none is my favourite.

I'd also suggest both 1984 and Brave New world for the dystopian feel and all the morality discussion. They are a bit slower due to their depth but they are superb

And if you feel like not understanding anything I'd go with something like The Wind-Up Bird chronicle by Haruki Murakami, Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World or 1Q84. He mixes the real world and the fantastical like poetry.

I actually did read 1984 as an alternate assignment at school (had an objection to book we currently read), and when it was at my own pace it was great and I did love it. Brave New World I also really liked yet was read at a teacher's pace, but I could afford to read both again.
I've noted the rest, especially Agatha Christie cause I've heard good things about her.

>>332518263
I would agree and most friends make videos or stream JUST to do this, and they wonder why they fizzle out and try to blame the system on why they can't make revenue. Sure. What could go wrong?
>>
>>332520550
Yeah but i was 25 of those viewers
>>
>>332519448
Usually whatever bullshit comes to mind at the time. Can't think of any specific examples right now.

>>332519675
Sometimes you just need some encouragement. Thanks.

>>332519814
Right now I'm going through Scholar in anticipation of DaS3. Sea of shit, I know but I play what I enjoy not necessarily what's popular. Typically play RPGs or games that let me be creative. Nothing terribly fast paced which is probably part of me not getting views.

I think my biggest issue though is that I feel like a prostitute when plugging my stream which just discourages me further. I'm just doing it for fun, I don't want to feel like a whore.
>>
>>332520517
I've ment both. I can be a bitchy person and my girlfriend can be just a streamer. So we are going to be a successful family of streamers.
>>
What are some games that look decent steamed at a low bit rate? Country cable Internet sucks.

Anything that didn't come out yet.
You ARE friend with your local game shop, right?
>>
>>332520247
I wasn't really competing with anyone. I was just surprised that a game like Pirate Warriors 3 garnered such attention. I was only expecting my friend to watch, not 11 more people.

Regardless, 50 is still a great first time viewer count. I would have went full commentary with that many viewers.
>>332520681
Probably. Not fast though. Maybe in a year or so, but that's not really worth it.
>>
>>332520959
Damn, I knew it was a great idea.
>>
>>332521078
Why not? I heard streamers get up to $1000/month if they are streaming on a regular basis.
>>
>>332521036
It's ok as long as people like it.
>>
>stream an obscure game just to check and see how streaming works
>8 viewers like instantly
>most are probably bots, eh
>some of them actually talk
>keep telling me to do things
>unsure if I should just be playing the game the way I want, or trying to please the people watching
more trouble than it's worth really. The people who talk obviously want streamer-chat interaction, but I'd rather just have people watching my stream and chill. I can't focus on the game if I'm checking the chat constantly.

If it was your own money, it'd be a bit reckless but a choice nonetheless, but that's just plain stupid.
Streaming isn't a job, it can fail.
You can have no success and simply have it not work.
It's as if you borrowed money and said you were gonna pay it back when the video game you were making makes big bucks.
>>
How do I stream a Sega Saturn? I'm really good at Bulk Slash and it doesn't emulate well.
>>
I recently co-commentated on a casual stream with someone I added from a thread. We didn't get any viewers because of the obscure game title, but we both managed to relax and actually enjoy talking, something that I've never been able to do when streaming alone.

There are so many steam threads on /v/, why not ask someone for a streaming buddy?
>>
>>332521453
>unsure if I should just be playing the game the way I want, or trying to please the people watching
It depends on whether you want to be an attentionhore or a guy who just enjoys the game.
>>
>>332520681

Maybe with your own money, if she is enough of a whore, and if she has big enough tits.

Even then it probably takes time, unless the tits are big enough so you can make the cleavage very obvious even on the thumbnail.
>>
>>332521453
You can stream without a mic and ignore the chat, there's a niche for it.
>>
I have a laptop, how easy is it to stream from actual console footage? I feels like I never got it to really work correctly.
>>
>>332521749

There is?
I assumed people would just watch videos on youtube if thats the case.

Honestly I'd like to stream as a self-treatment, I'm less likely to be an autistic ragefuck if I know people are watching, or even just "possibly" watching.
>>
>>332521558
Yea, but at least I'll get a decent pc.
>>
>>332516569
how does one become a librarian? I've been thinking about this for a while.
>>
>>332521845
Yeah, I often see streams with (nomic) in the title being in the middle of the stream list.
>>332521862

>>
>>332521730

>died several times at gargoyles
>people start to offer that they help me
>I tell them that I want to do it alone
>finally beat them
>ok guys I'm offline for now

Was so embarrassed for showing such a bad performance

Trying it again when I was at blighttown. Died for 2 hours and had no idea where to go. Suddenly stopped streaming with 30 viewers.

Can't stream again, because I got lots of followers and they will show up again. Had this happen to me before when the DayZ Mod got released. I just made a new channel while I had about 20 regulars
>>
>>332522051

Huh, wouldnt those be just regular streams who happen to have no intentions of speaking - right now?

I'm a shy fuck with a shit voice so I'd practically never do it.

Still I might give it a go again, not like I can lose face or anything since it would be just gameplay.
>>
>>332522051
Well, I think if it will profit, I'll pay money back in a year or so.
>>
>>332521286
I don't know any streamers that make that much that haven't been streaming for years and years. It takes a long time just to get a sub button, and even longer to get a large amount of subscribers

Maybe if she got a ton of donations you could make up the $800? So just hope she gets one of those prince's who throw around $1k+ donations.
>>
>>332522040
Just open a library.
My dad did it, back when he was tired of working, and thought it'd be easy work.
It apparently wasn't.

Fuck it man, just go on chaturbate, make her tease the fuck out of people fully clothed, and set up flashes at a nice high price, then do a private show of fucking her

You'll make that $800 in a night.
>>
>>332513713
Red pill me streaming, how does it work and how can you earn money from it?
>>
>>332522220
If they're watching a stream that doesn't have a mic, they're interested in a stream that doesn't have a mic.
Even taking in account they might be subscribers, they got multiple accounts they're subscribed to or could just go watch something else.
I know I watch those often and don't subscribe often.
>>332522221

It sounds kinda offputing, knowing that you may not pay this person back, but I don't know you nor them, so the hell do I know.

>>
>>332522446
Donating is instant. You just have to put it in your description under your stream. How people donate to you, is up to you.

A sub button requires having a weekly schedule, and having a lot of viewers everytime you stream.
It says on the page that it requires 500+ viewers, but I've seen a streamer I follow have 100 daily viewers and still get one.
>>
>>332523135
how do you know?
>>
>>332522960
I think you receive payment every two weeks. Could be wrong.

>>332523135
Oh god, you're not that fucking trap that streamed VTMB a month ago, are you? Listening to someone talk about why you shouldn't put apples up your ass on twitch was extremely surreal.
>>
>>332523213
Well, i think 500 viewers is nothing for a girl who knows how to play.
>>
>>332523301

Because I participated in camwhore sessions that earned more than my monthly paycheck in about 5 hours laid back masturbation.

>>332523445

Not at all.
sounds interesting to me though
>>
>>332523514
Was she hot?
>>
>>332523514
Well, I don't remember what their handle was, but he did talk about posting on places like /v/ to get noticed. The mods in the chat were also chaturbate users.

Again, the whole thing was just surreal. I thought they were your regular run-of-the-mill streamers until they started talking about camshows.
>>
>>332523660

It was a THICK redhead with bangin tits and a 6/10 face.
Nice personality though, talked vidya with her a few times.
Chatting up the users matters a lot.

I saw the same earned by a regular looking twink dude in one night and a 30 min pay-show
tipped and got a ticket too
>>
>>332523838

>>

>>
>>332523838

>>
>>332522040
You get an MLS degree online and stalk libraries with old ladies ready to die or retire (they never retire) so you can jump into the position. That's how I did it. Honestly, it's my dream job.
>>
>>332524240
Pretty much this.
>>
>>332524254
Hows the payment?
>>
>>332524048

Possibly, havent seen it myself before but I dont go there often anymore, and not into chubby dudes.

I'd say for men its probably best to start out with just getting off on being watched.
Women are whores they start off fully clothed and start with $5 to flash my elbow shit, I doubt that works for men.
>>
>>332524249

Yeah, I'd never show my face - even though when you think about it, f you found someone you know camwhoring - would you actually bring it up?
>>
>>332524254

Did you poison an old lady to get her job?
>>
>>332524371
Bout 40-45k. Could make double that if you land a job in a university library and work your way up. Shit, Library of Congress book drones can make over 100k. I live like a king on 40k, though. That and I essentially do real work for less than 2 hours a day, reading or browsing 4chan the rest of the time. Love it.

Why the fuck does /v/ not have a sticky full of information on how to do something? Smaller shittier boards have them. I was raised by 4chan and I got all my skills from it. I'm disappointed I can't learn much from /v/

I learn 3d modelling from /3/
Learned to web dev and got a job from /g/
Picked up some photoshop skillz from /gd/
Got in shape by following routines and doing pills i bought (DNP) while also getting leads on steroids /fit/
Bought my first car with info from sticky in /o/
I also get some clothing inspo from /fa/

what the fuck did I get from /v/

How to get famous on Twitch:

1. Develop some lolsowacky personality

2. Ignore all the thirsty betas that donate to you so that they donate to you more (trust me it works)

3. Play shitty FOTM games
