there was a rewrite after episode 1 that led to a months long delay because the killer was blatantly the boy who cried wolf (the kid who popped up like 10 times in the first episode alone with Shepard crooks on his tie). Yeah I thought it was over like halfway through but nope. I honestly think it was their longest game. The only episode that felt short was the 4th one which was like 90 minutes. Yes everyone hates Bigby for literally murdering and eating thousands of innocent people. He wasn't the most powerful fable but he was the most feared. When the adversary forces invaded his world they stayed the fuck away from his forest for a long time as it was known that he would take the field against whole armies by himself. He was not a nice guy before Snow found him and everyone hates him for that. Hell he even admits that Snow and his kids are the only reason why he doesn't go back to how he used to be.

Generally the characters are much more competent, likeable and smarter in Fables. Bigby for example has had centuries of practice with fighting, eats elephant gun shells to the face only to recover minutes later, can identify people from a mile away by scent alone and the first story arc of the series is about him solving a murder mystery with minimal effort while maintaining peace with the whole fable community.
In TWAU he's a clueless brawler who gets OHKO'd by a random fable, nearly gets outran by a fatass before that and his great detective work involves that stupid-ass Sleeping Beauty roleplaying scene a toddler could have pointed out.
