Some people might say rx tools is SHIT or unreliable, but they're retarded don't listen. It works perfectly fine, the worst you'll ever get is the occasional powerup freeze which you can fix by turning the 3DS off then on again.

I have but I only downloaded Fates.
I don't want to sell my actual games because I'd feel bad. Even though nintendo has been fucking us with censoring lately.
I finally went through with it a few weeks ago and it's working great right now. I remember reading something about installing CIA's or whatever with unique keys based on any physical game you own so even if you download whatever game and install it, it wont look the same as it will for someone else with the same download but I can't find info on that yet.
Is it done automatically so I don't need to worry (so far all I've downloaded and installed is Bravely Second uncensored) but having games digital is generally comfier even if I buy physical versions so I don't have to keep switching cartridges. And yes I'm retarded or something.

Put a9lh+aureinand on a n3ds last week, and have been enjoying Rune Factory 4 since.
Little bit time consuming and had one minor scare aside (just remove the sd card to run 2.1.0 in part 4), but it was pretty easy even for a retard like me. Booting from sysnand just seems to run much smoother than the rxtools I was using previously.

There's one in the Cakes thread on the iso site that also has the firmkey you need since the ones you get directly from Nintendo didn't seem to work right for me. It's as simple as just removing the original firmkey and firmware.bin and putting the ones you downloaded onto it. NTR reads it and will work from there. Bit annoying but it works.

I have never installed a digital game before and I was told to use a cia converter when asking /hbg/. That's how I did it the last time, but you had to generate your own xordpads or something. I had never heard of the site you mentioned, but unfortunately I doubt they have the cia for the undub of the game I'm after. Their search function doesn't appear to be working, so looking for it might take a while.

You can inject any GBA game into a .cia file and install them like any other 3DS game.
A few GBA games can already be played legitimately for 3DS Ambassadors so the framework was already there to play them on the 3DS without an emulator.

I installed rxtools and sometime later I followed some retard-proof guide that used to be in one of /hbg/'s pastbins, but I never managed to install CtrBootManager or menuhax. I kept getting a yellow screen when trying to reach the homebrew launcher in the web browser. I somehow still managed to use rxtools, create a cia from a 3ds rom and install it.
As I understand it my versions of rxtools and stuff are outdated and I'm not even sure what I should be using anymore. Is it possible to just erase all my progress and start this shit over again and do it right? /hbg/'s 3ds guides and tutorials change every time I visit the thread so I don't know where to start anymore.

For the most part, yes. I haven't touched the thing in a few months but I went out and grabbed a copy of Hyrule Warriors. The graphics are kinda shit but the gameplay and framerate are top notch.
I don't see any games comming out in the future I actually want to purchase, let alone pirate. I;m at the point in my life where i don't have much time in a day to just lie around and play video games all day so I just end up playing Heroes of the Storm for a few hours before I go to bed. I just fixed this problem recently
fastest, easiest way is to format your emu and start all over again. took me less than an hour to get my emu back to the way I wanted it.
Didn't hack mine yet, I'm on 10.4 I don't want to pirate cause I want to own the games.

-made sure on emu
-ran format
-system restarted and booted into rx-tools, where I selected patch and run emu
-went through the steps of setting up my emu again
-once it finished I logged into my NNID
-restarted system and went back into rx-tools to inject FBI
-everything just werks now
not saying my way will work for you, but there should be a guide that walks you through the process. I did it because I was sick of installing a .cia, only to find out I didn't have the latest update.
at least now I can use eshop to keep everything updated.

Well, I can't but I've read other people could do it just fine. I have to figure out how to fix mine. I really wish someone made a guide fix for this issue. Ultimately, it's up to you. Sure you might lose your games, but you'll be able to redownload them all and then some for free. I'm mostly OK with that. I just don't like that I'll have to re-add all my friends
