I found the Maneaters very simple. Just run away until you're in a situation where one of them isn't in range of you, and then get easy hits in on the other one. Taken solo they are barely a threat.

Crescent falchion is the drake sword/crutch weapon of DeS. I would recommend it to a player on his very first souls game, but not for much longer after that

I tried to replay it the other week and it felt like there was a lead weight in my stomach, and my throat felt like it was closing up. Everything about the game made me feel uneasy; the hit sounds, the item names, the npcs proportions.
Everything was just so bleak.

Demon's Souls is definitely the strongest souls game in terms of atmosphere. The game's overwhelmingly bleak and the feeling of an impending apocalypse hangs over the world. It's different from dark souls where things are going shit but the world seems to be intact, in this game everything seems fucked, and permanently so. The deep fog definitely helps with that feeling.

I think the sickening feeling really comes from realizing the same thing that the NPCs realize by the end of the game, and that is that God and the Old One are one and the same (at least, the god that grants them miracles and whom they worship), and that this world is fucked beyond hope
