You know how sometimes friends will do just about anything just to have something to do together? Dks2 was that for me and 3 others. After 400 hours, the design choices aren't any less stupid and "top tier PvP" is an even bigger joke than it was in the first one.
After my friends were done with it I started training in PvP, which I found and still find lacking. I know you'll probably go all >he plays it for the pvp on me, but there are no other action rpgs in which I can kill other players with ginormous swords, and that's the main draw for me. If the game was even remotely balanced i'd be all for saying it's decent, but it's not just unbalanced, it's disgustingly unbalanced.
Sure I can (and do) gimp myself by using low tier weapons because I like them, but losing to an opponent strictly because they have a weebstick that does 2x what I do in half the time with 0 effort completely ruins the last semblance of fun I attempt to pull out of this uninspired reanimated corpse of a souls title. I fought and won in fight clubs until my timer ran out many times before, but it just isn't the same as the first game, knowing that i'm decent isn't enough, there is no enjoyment or even acknowledgement that I've won. I keep going back trying to find something like those good old ds1 moments, but the two games are vastly different, and i'm disappointed every time.
