I have like 700-800 hours in Destiny easily but only 100 in Warframe before the gameplay was just too stale and shit to keep me interested.
Destiny has the best feel as a shooter I can think of. That's why I keep going back, honestly. PVP with some bros can be super fun, while you never feel like you're actually getting anything done in Warframe. I dunno.

It's basically the core of the game and why it works. Every weapon in it's archetype is satisfying enough, I prefer hand cannons and scout rifles for headshotting a lot. Hand cannons definitely have that nice weighty recoil but the RoF is low enough that you aren't shooting all over the place if you're squeezing off multiple rounds.
Not to mention the sound direction is fucking top notch. A lot of people underestimate how important that is to enjoying a game with guns.

warframe's gameplay is actually pretty great. i can't think of another game that mixes movement, melee, and shooting so well. the weakest one on it's own is melee though. it would use some work.

I don't think the melee is so bad on its own. I mean sure it's pretty bare-boned but I think the real issue is just how many stuns and knock-downs that enemies have to punish you for trying to melee them.

The shooting feels so flimsy and all the guns handle and sound like shit. There's some cool ideas, like that ray beam shotgun but the enemies are either easily killed dolls or complete fucksticks. None of the fights feel rewarding or fun, just tedious.

It really doesn't help that you can't use any of your weapon combos while using guns and so many of them are just flashy shit.
Like I could kill 20 enemies with a gun in the same time it takes me to pull out my Serro, block the incoming knockdowns, and slowly execute my combo to maybe kill 3 guys because the hitbox is kind of wonky and the staff combos move you so far forward.
The only reasons I even take a melee weapon is to open crates and because the fist weapon animations are so nice.

I've put 50 fucking hours into this game and only then realised it was shit.
You literally do the same thing over and over again, which wouldn't be too big of a problem, but it's not actually challenging or based on any skill.
It's a case of "got powerful mods? U WIN" or "no mods? lol enjoy taking 30 seconds to kill a single enemy until the boss who is practically unbeatable"
Skill caps out really fucking fast. It's all about grinding for betters mods to do well, which just isn't fun for me.

I don't know that percentage. Obviously it needs some people to pay the currency otherwise they would be bankrupt. But what I can tell you is it's completely possible to play WF for free and get everything you want from it - nothing is locked behind a paywall because you can freely trade not only the cash shop currency, but regular drop items for the cash shop currency. Just because you and your autistic friends don't have any restraint in dropping cash doesn't mean the whole world does. Not everyone is a sucker for marketing.
Meanwhile Destiny itself is locked behind a paywall, and then all its expansions are locked behind more paywalls.
I actually try not and get my friends into this game but they do anyways. About 300 hours later I hear them complaining about the grinding and the farming and they just quit from being burned out. I warned them and they just didn't listen.

The Division is just one of those bitter disappointments for me. It could have been fantastic if they'd made a more realistic single player oriented game. The setting alone would have made it great. I'd have loved a survival shooter set in a snowbound, decaying new york.
