It has been done since the DS. And it's annoying as fuck.
>>
It really is okay when they do it. There's nothing we can do about it though, an extreme double standard exists on this board. People will apologize and forgive Nintendo under any circumstances, its almost useless trying to make sense of it.
>>
>>332334219
If you're going to include the revs of the DS, may as well include the GBA/SP/SP2. Hell, or the skinnier rev of the original GB

Sony is a anticonsumerist shit after what they did to the vita and the turd they're laying on the PS4 owners

Nintendo is also an anticonsumerist shit with what they've done to the DSi, 3DS, n3DS early adopters and their apparently early death of the Wii U.

Microsoft as well is an anticonsumerist shit with what they're doing with UWP

Steam is always an anticonsumerist shit with it's various early access policies and DRM.

Before even that. The Game Boy Pocket had better screen density, took 2 AAA batteries and had a better battery life.
>>
>>332335189

Anon, Sega too was anticonsumerist. I loved them to death and was sad that they died considering they were one of the only game companies left to actually make game consoles, but I'm not going to pretend like the 32x and Dreamcast didn't exist.

Figures the American division would drop support.
I don't care anyways, the Vita is easily the best handheld out in the market.
>>
>>332335281
I haven't got anything else to spend it on.
I could put it in the bank, but I always deposit so much from my paycheck anyway, so it was all just spare money that otherwise would have been spent on vidya at some other point in time.
>>
>>332334686

they should've removed the 3d effect entirely and opted for 720p screens, i would've even settled for 480p ones

I love both. The 3ds is underrated as a weeb machine.
>>
>>332336051
It's been hackable since 3.18.
The latest firmware, 3.57 is about to get a new exploit release soon as well, that will allow an emulated PSP sandbox to be run.

Even I'm forgetful. My mind completely blocked out the Gameboy Pocket.
>>
>>332336160
I do too, but god the 3DS' buttons are god awful.
I don't know if the N3DS models fixed it since I don't own one, but it is a good handheld too, but not as well designed as the Vita is imo.
>>
>>332336287

I think they fixed shit for the N3DS. Wouldn't know because I haven't bought one yet. Sticking with my XL until N3DS gets more than one game.
>>
>>332336287
I upgraded from an old launch day 3DS to a N3DSXL recently and it felt like an orgasm in my hands by comparison. The D-pad is actually somewhat useable.
>>
>>332336170
sauce?
>>
>>332333857

I actually have a question for nintendrones. Do old games actually run better on the New 3DS? Or does it run all the old games at their original speeds and run the new games at new speeds?

I imagine that if it was the former, some games that rely on the precise CPU timing of the old 3DS straight up might not play correctly.
>>
>>332336408
It has one and a half games since HW:L runs like dog shit on the o3ds
>>
>>332336236
I prefer to forget Gameboy Micro's existence. That shit is useless unless you want to lose your eyesight
>>
>>332336583
Old games have to be patched to take advantage of n3ds hardware, so you have some games like Codename M.E.M.E. that can use the extra power, but other games like pokemon and mario kart won't
>>
>>332336583
no, majority of games will run at the older clock speed.

Dunno, I like using mine for Pokemon if I'm relaxing occasionally.

Doesn't seem to bother my eyes as much as my Vita does.
>>
>>332336597

That reminds me, I got a replacement battery for my old GBA SP with the intention of getting some of my old games for it.

I had totally forgotten how shit the backlight and LCD screens were. I think the DS Lite was the first Nintendo portable with an LCD and backlight that would be considered acceptable today.
>>
>>332336287
>>332336408
So I've got a n3ds and a 1000 Vita. I prefer the vita butons slightly but not by a ton. Buttons are less noisy and require less force.

The nipple is not a good control though and I do find myself slipping off the circle pad every now and again so the vita wins fairly handily in analog sticks.

Maybe it's because I've mostly used it for Pokemon and barely look at the screen when mashing A during battles.

If they were DLC, you'd expect to get something at least as substantial as extra costumes or custom moves. Smash Bros. just uses them for a shitty gimmick feature nobody uses, and every other game I've played just uses them as a shortcut to regular unlocks.
I don't think anybody buys Amiibos for the in-game features, just because they like the figure.
>>
>>332337178
Not him, but I'm also a PCH-1000 owner and it feels more delicate than the 3DS's, almost like it would break if you hit it too hard in one direction.
Other than that, they're nice for what they are.

>citing Sega in an argument about unnecessary upgrades

I kek'd.
>>
>>332336735
>>332336802

That kind of sucks.

If I was Sony and had already planned a PS4.5 ahead of time, I would have sent my dev kits with a switch that underclocks some of the various processors and demand that the games work flawlessly on the under-clocked hardware, if at a reduced framerate, as a requirement of certification. That way, when the inevitable PS4.5 comes along, it is more likely to work "out of the box" on better hardware, since the code must be proven to be able to deal with variable clock speeds.
>>
>>332337247
That's a good hypothesis.

I played Spyro on it so imagine the struggle
>>
>>332333857

Even if I still think the new 3ds is anti consumer as fuck I eventually warmed up and got one.

That said I'm still waiting for a non-false flag thread praising the PS4.5. It really is okay when Nintendo does it.

I had an ambassador certificate o3ds that I paid like $50 to upgrade to a n3ds (mainly wanted the bigger screen) which I've been pretty happy with. Still really anticonsumer though as was the price drop on the o3ds to begin with especially since I owned 90% of the free games they gave out.

This is probably the greatest misconception of gaming today. Idiots cry that Nintendo can get away with anything, when in reality, they along with Microsoft are the two companies that get the most shit, whether it's necessary or not. Sony and Valve get away with a lot of bullshit, and coincidentally, it appears most of 4chan is packed to the brim with frothing Sony and Valve fantards.
