F-Zero is in an upopular subsection of its genre and it actually got less popular after Captain Falcon appeared in Smash Bros 64 and Melee.
People are too apathetic to futuristic racers for advertising to be anything but a waste of money for. Marketing is only cost effective when the product is something desirable to a general audience, a hard superfast casual unfriendly racer isn't.
I could only see a new F-Zero being a cheapass e-Shop only game that's only shown in Nintendo directs and youtube and only needs to sell 100k to succeed or retail release at a system launch when there's nothing else to play.
