Depends of how cool exploring will be. If its any decent ill probably go for that. If all planets feel the same ill go for trader.
That said, it might be interesting forming a group of pirates with some friends.
I am open for all possibilities really.

Multiplayer in NMS does not work the way you describe. It is akin to Journey's. You might see someone. You might not. You don't get to pair up with friends.
