>Review for a game
>Loses points for being too hard
Depending on what makes it hard there is nothing wrong with losing points for being difficult.
If they just suck at video games though, that is a shit excuse.
>uses the word "frustrating"
A game can be too hard. Ninja Gaiden 2 on Xbox360 for example was unfair hard and just bullshit with the exploding shuriken spam on harder difficulties. I still completed the game but having to deal with a million exploding shuriken ninjas in every encounter wasn't good game design.
A game should be hard enough to provide a challenge to most players without being complete BS.
A review should be in the perspective of the average player.

I can see this being an issue if a game has really inconsistent ai or difficulty.
That being said I haven't played Alien Isolation so I can't speak to that game specifically
As it should. A game should be a fun experience not some stroke inducing bullshit.

Well yeah, a game should lose points for unfair bullshit the player has no reasonable way to react to with the tools they've been given. A good game should be challenging without being frustrating.
Basically artificial difficulty is bad
I love when review sites lay out their goods and bads next to their score so that I can discard any reasons I think are bullshit and modify the score accordingly.
>"The game would be perfect!"
>"However, we had to take points away for its insensitive writing and sexist art style."
I never listen to scores. And neither should you. Try the fucking game for yourself. Dont give these fucking hipsters money for blogging tears.
>complain that fanservice games don't have enough gameplay
>give Gone Home 9/10 and Her Story 10/10
