XCOM thread?
XCOM thread.
Post your stories here, totally not used to find out how you play.
Are the original games worth playing? My GPU busted a few weels ago, and I doubt the integrated intel gpu will run the newer xcom games with an acceptable performance

Actually, they're worth it. So long as you don't mind death around every corner and intense micromanagement.
>>332306918
Sounds good. Conceptually it's the same deal as the newer games, tho, right? Turn based srpg of sorts, like jagged alliance for example?
>>332307084
For the most part, yes. There are some differences however.
>>332307084
yeah, but your soldiers will get shot from areas they can't see, disks take are practically tanks, and you need to buy ammo for even laser weapons.
openxcom helps a lot here, and it comes width a shitload if mods.
just don't get mad once the only viable tactic is to give rpgs to everyone and blow everything up

>VIP rescue
>Ambush a pod, everything all right
>go to move a soldier up to where an alien was
>cursor keeps getting pushed off the corpse, ends up making me missclick and leave my guy in the open
>shit, well, guess I'll yellow move to get him in cover
>it does it again
>fuck, oh well no more pods active
>more phantom ranger up, spots a patrol of 3 avdvent, has eyes on 2 when I get camera control back
>I can kill these guys pretty easily with some grenades.
>move grenadiers up, launch proxy mine at their feet
>launch grenade centered on the group, even though I can't see the third guy, I know it's still in range from what I saw when they were all visible
>3rd guy in fog takes no damage from the grenade
>only the guy that activated the mine takes damage
>okay this is still workable, I still got moves left
>check line of sight with specialist, then move him up
>specialist doesn't actually have line of sight
>well okay I guess I'll just use his grenade instead to blow up the cover
>cover gets blown up, but the advent still has the full cover bonus
fuck this game
had it for years now starting it up for the first time
any advice?

You will get attached to your soldiers. When they die, you will cry like a little bitch. And they WILL die.
Oh, and know how to use cover and think before you act.
Seems legit.
I don't use mechanized infantry
I find it inhumane

MECs are the cyborgs
Mechanized infantry are IFVs and APCs. If they were in XCOM I'd use the hell out of them.
I miss MECs.
More importantly, I miss being able to Rocket-Fist a Muton in the face.
EXO-Suits just ain't the same.
I also miss these chucklefucks in pic related.
>tfw still no cute SHIVs to tear shit up in xcom 2
Please firaxis

You can fit your squad out to look like Exalt in 2 atleast, Ex-Exalt if you will.
