Because it was linear stealth game closer to Splinter Cell than to Hitman and taking disguise system after 2:SA rather than Contracts or BM. It forced player to use bullshit instinct mode, as levels were designed around it. You know, "hold button to hide face until 47 runs out of juice".
With Contracts they made Hitman about assassination, with Blood Money they established it even more. New Hitman is back to assassination formula, made in mind with freedom grater than BM. It just needs more maps.

Having not played a hitman game since blood money, I'm really liking it and the episodic format doesn't bother me at all. You don't have to pay full price put the gate to play. Then again /v/ has always acted like their welfare money is the most sacred thing on the planet. Always online sucks though.

I really like it so far. The episodic nature is interesting because I've spent way more time playing the Paris level than I would have otherwise. I think I'll continue to buy the level packs but if they release an average or subpar level, it's going to burn me out on the game pretty quickly. I'm hopeful that they can do it. The intro pack surprised the fuck out of me because io hasn't made great game since 2006 (though I do have a soft spot for k&l 2).

As a guy who loved the Phantom pain and GZ, there's no denying if Konami had somehow worked with Kojima to make the whole thing episodic we might have actually gotten a less repetitive and complete game.
