I liked him when he was at IGN and in charge of Podcast Beyond with Colin. He seems like a really decent guy and he deserves his success in my opinion. Stopped paying attention to him after they left to pursue YouTube/patreon bucks though, yet sadly Podcast Beyond also has become insufferable trash without him because of Max Scoville.

After leaving Square he contributed to the 3DS Guild01, and made a D&D-like dungeon dice game. He also did the writing for Wii's MadWorld (Platinum's first game), which bombed.
Then he played a lot of Final Fantasy XV, almost like he was retired.
Guess he ran out of money, as after a couple years after that he attached himself to an unproven mobile dev (Playdek) and Kickstarted Unsung Story, which was supposed to be a tactical RPG in the vein of Tactics Ogre/FFT.
In February of this year Playdek put the project on halt indefinitely, saying that they needed to focus on other games to keep the company afloat.
So basically, Matsuno can't catch a break. If you want a sequel to FFT/TO you'd better fucking hope an indie dev picks up the slack, because the hopes are looking slimmer each day. If you want a sequel to Vagrant Story or FF12it will never happen ;_;
