Yep. Both stories are stock plots that have been done a million times and holding back the a invading force of evil faceless beings has always been a consistent money maker for hollywood.
The original plot is better because warcraft setting was originally much grittier and desperate take on the 'holding back the tide' plot than the typical hollywood interpretation.
This new plot looks so generic and safe that you will be able to pick the plot beats 10 minutes before they happen. I'm basing my opinion on the trailer, because the new trailer literally gives away everything that happens in the movie and all of it is 110% generic, right down to the orc chieftain fight in the ring of warriors.
More so, the reason that the original plot has been done by so many successful movies is because it's a robust, classic tale that people always like and allows for plenty of action.
The new story is going bore people by wasting time with completely predictable character interactions between the human and orc heroes (they literally even use the "Whatever you're going to do, do it now" line, lel).
