Zelda 2 predates MegaMan by a few months. I think Z2 was Jan 1987 while MM was Dec 1987, actually. Almost an entire year.
I know this because I erroneously assumed Megaman was the first NES game to use the tremolo effect for music, when it was Zelda 2.
