Still playing Sims 3, there's nothing to do in Sims 4 after 1~2 hours.

Sims 5 is dead before it even lives.

I thought Sims 3 was pretty solid, familial gland. It holds back a lot of content in DLC like EA loves to do in every one of their games, but who the fuck honestly buys an EA game anymore on PC. Just pirate it with all the DLC.

>>332238312

Yes. I ran it on a toaster a couple of years back. I've since built a much more up to par rig but I haven't played 3 since. The game is pretty well optimized from what I've seen.

if you get all the fixes it runs ok. its still obviously got issues but mods, fixed routing worlds make it playable. my biggest issue is it'll get choppy when overwatch cleans stuff up and the initial load time is pretty bad.

>>332237915
i thought egypt was comfy. france was disappointing.
>>
>>332238617
everything you can possibly imagine

ridiculous loading times, especially after you get all the DLC. like we're talking 10 minute neighborhood loading
slowdowns, feezes, crashes
horrendous pathfinding leading to the issues above, especially in the vacation spots

just a total mess.
naturally there will always be people who had no issues, but the game has a reputation for running like shit, especially damning considering this is a fucking big, historic PC exclusive franchise
>>

Honestly you'd think a franchise aimed in no small part at women and casuals would care even more about optimization. Because those are the people without powerful rigs and without the nerve or knowledge to go out and find fixes.

I don't think my sister who played this installed pathfinding fixes or overwatch cleanup and I can't possibly imagine how shitty the game must run without things like that.
>>
>>332239142
>The end is near. Make preparations

I remember having this call once and a moment later the rug caught fire from the fireplace and burnt my sim alive
>>
>>332239359
I would have hoped so at least, I think I saw a survey once and it said that most people played Sims on toasters and laptops.

I have ran Sims 3 in it's entirety without any fixes and good god the performance was abysmal, took it fucking 15 minutes to load the world. I had an i7 and a 780
>>
>>332239359
The problem with Sims 3 "optimization" is that it runs like shit not matter what you run it on. Which is a big sign of really, really poor programming. It doesn't really run materially worse on toasters because the problems are obviously with their algorithms.
>>
>>332239359
theres a laundry list of things, its pretty bad.

>set to only use 2gb ram when it highly benefits from being allowed to use more (can be changed easy)
>routing so bad on (some) worlds and sims don't reset themselves, so they just re-run routing calculations thousands of times per second, making the game freeze every few seconds
>sims leave cars in their inventory and the game seems to spawn random ones for them to use, or new ones at least, leading to 30-40 cars on some maps being added to npc inventories each day

theres basically so much garbage cleanup that they didn't do, in less than an in-game month it can go from seeming to run really good, to just freezing every few seconds. by giving your game more ram (i'm trying out 4gb, its been using about 3 so far most of the time), getting the fixed routing worlds, and mods to cleanup the rest of the stupid things they forgot like homeless population, animals, tv's being left on etc, the game doesn't go and shit itself after playing for a while.

i'm enjoying it though. but this was like installing fcom.
>>
>>332239359
>stationary sims and cars that never properly despawn hogging memory like crazy

That mod once cleaned up like 2000 useless instances of sims and shit that were kept in the memory just because they existed once. That save file took forever to load.

A dot on the map means your Sims is somewhere tangible. There's a way to and from wherever it is you're going. You can have him jog to work, or pick up groceries on the way home, etc.

I'm probably just still too butthurt that they cut the open world. That really upset me. With that, where exactly is this series going? Sims 4 has no big innovation going for it. Even with all the technical crap and jewish DLC practices, I thought Sims 3 was going in the right direction and the future of a huge, open Sim-world was going to be bright.

Instead we got this shit.

Sims 3 was shit purely due to the 200 hour load times. You say modding it fixes the game but really modding just makes it worse because it makes the loads longer too.
>>
>>332241168
They aren't though. They sold alot less, even the casual sims community was pissed.
>>
>>332243173
Don't bother with repacks, get individual ISOs from Reloaded, Fairlight or Vitality. I have every ep/stuff release from those 3 and they all work perfectly together with the official super patch and stuff. Repacks always have something wrong with them.
>>
Where can I download the original sims or purchase it digitally?
>>
I think 2 was the best. It combined all the stuff 1's expansions thought up (a lot of which was in the vanilla game) with improved graphics and not entirely atrocious load times. It was the load times in 3 that got me, holy shit. Otherwise it could have been good.

these are the mods that clean shit up and keep your town from having 4000 cars. basically you want master controller, overwatch and error trap. there is a lot of other ones listed there too that are good, so it'd be worth it reading through them.

also pic related. find your sims3\game\bin folder, and sims3.ini. if you have a lot of ram, make it more than 2gb. i'm using 4 here and it usually wants to use around 3gb.

In Sims 3 I had so many children as a male that the genealogical threee stopped loading. I was a genie with love magic/potions so it was all too easy to get random females off the street to seduce on the first "date" (they gave themselves in for a sandwich, a couple of jokes and a massage). The neighborhood was filled with single mothers with red children as a result. I even brought my gf's from egypt and china to the country as well.

Anyone have the game or listened to the soundtrack to see if it's true?
>>
>>332262796
The sims online? Yeah, it was pretty much the sims 1, but online. When they made the complete collection for the sims 1 (all of it in one package), they added some objects that were actually in TSO.

My only problem with TSO was that because there were only a handfull of items with the best stats (such as chairs or couches for comfort, showers for hygene, etc) everyone's place looked the same thematically for the most part.
>>
>>332260873

The game finds them a random partner to be with, from another dimension or something.
Actually, i made a lot of people "become real". As in, before I got the mailwoman pregnant, she didn't really exist in the game, she was just that day's random mail worker, not even a name. After she got pregnant, the game started trating her like a real woman, and got her a house, a real in-game job and all. Same with the policewoman, the firefighter, etc.

Oh I fucked up hard on that post, I meant to say that they said Sims 4 was like the original sims but fancier graphics.

Never played TSO though, always did, but, sounds like it was nothing special really

>randomly get urge to play Sims one day
>fight urge because it takes so fucking long to reinstall that shit
>several weeks pass
>finally break and download and install
>add all the nraas shit and store furniture
>play for week
>get bored
>say to self I'm probably never going to want to play it again
>uninstall

Huh, didn't know it would do that. I mean, I tried flirting with the maid, but she'd try to leave super fast when her shift ended and that would be it...
>>
Same thing that happened to modern Sim City. EA went ultimate milking faggots.
>>
I still choose to believe that EA deliberately sabotaged Sims 3 by making it run like shit with lots of Expansions.
Seriously some of the later expansions are that buggy and broken to the point where if you have everything it becomes literally unable to use that expansions content.
If it wasn't for all the broken shit that makes it unplayable it Would have been the PERFECT sims game and there would have been next to no reason to buy any future games which is why I believe that EA sabotaged it

I sincerely miss those gnomes. I mean, they brought them back in 3 sort of and they just moved around the house but I don't think you could make them again. I just wanted shitty little gnomes all over my palace.

>>
>>332266090
The multi tasking added in 4 was needed but it's not worth buying 4 for.
>>
>>332266675
yeah there would have been only little things like that to improve on and if sims 3 wasn't so horribly unoptimised and broken then sims 4 would have had some huge, huge shoes to fill, but instead they can now use the excuse "we dropped the open world/whatever thing from sims 3 because it just didn't work" so they can continue remaking and selling the exact same games over and over

GBA urbz was the shit, how was the PS2 version?
>>332265628
Same shit happens to me, i never make it past the first generation,i always wanted to play long enough to have my backyard filled with my ancestor's graves

I like to play in what I call real life mode.

After I get married have several kids and start making them learn different skills based on what traits they get by rolling random. Then when they're YA I send them all to college for some more skill learning and when they all get back choose my favorite and boot them from the household into a starter a house and start over.

When you just give all your kids the genius trait and no negative traits it gets boring faster.

>>332267419
That's what you get when you only make perfect sims, you can make someone who is a genious and an asshole, but at the same time a pussy, or some fit as fuck, super handsome dude who is dumb but he also is the kindest dude alive.

I usually like to make my own little stories and give them usually sad endings
Like one time I made an inventor sim and had him dedicate his life to making himself a robot waifu.
Then 3 days after he succeeded he died of old age leaving behind a lonely depressed robot who eventually set out to make itself a friend using a diferent type of robot added in a later expansion.
But those seccond types of robots are highly customizable so I purposely kept it as being an extremely simple emotionless robot who did nothing to help the waifu robots crushing loneliness.
Then eventually after making and failing hundreds of times at making a friend a happy accident happened and I discovered the waifu robots type of robot can actually die of 'old age' after ages and she never succeeded and died lonely and depressed

Also i just fiished watching ExMachina, so your post seems ppretty oportune.
>>
>>332268271
you may need to do some fuckery if you want to use the robot types in my pic for his waifubot
because they are the harder and more time consuming of the two robot types but they are also classified as being children of the person who made them so he won't be able to do anything or get in a romantic relasionship with the robot without using mods or cheat

Thank's i'll keep that in mind.

How was it?
>>
>>332269673
pretty much vanilla sims 3 with even less content and with a huge focus on doing quests n shit than normal sims gameplay.
and it was very fun for the first hour or so but after that it gets incredibly repetitive due to the extreme lack of content.
I get the feeling that it was butchered and supposed to have a bunch of DLC which never got released due to it bombing

I mostly just enjoy building houses.
The last time I went ahead and made a sim I mostly just wanted to see all the different ways I could kill them. Whenever Death would come around to collect the sim Death would revive them instead citing that their suffering was too amusing and Death wanted more.
Poor thing was a mess. Set on fire, drowned, crushed by a satellite, starved....
