Pfhahaha you guys have no idea what happened, or how hardware design works.
That design was lifted from one of Nintendo's recent patents. Someone modeled it, put it into photoshop, and created a fake picture with it. Then some Swedish cunt took the same design, made his own (slightly different) model based on the same design, and 3D printed it.
That's it. That's all that happened. The only thing Nintendo did was publish a patent, and patents never, ever physically resemble prototypes or final products.

They have to resemble the actual product but they are typically not exactly the same. The patents for the Wii Remote are very close to the final product but are shown being used with the Gamecube. I highly doubt they ever planned on releasing it for the Gamecube.
