No David Bergeaud, too much AI friends, too much battlefield planets, you have to fight the same boss twice, no raritanium upgrades and the worst, those miniplanets had the best platforming sections of the whole game and they were OPTIONAL.

What's your excuse to say it's the best R&C game?

I honestly don't know, I just ended up enjoying it the most.

RAC1 has by far the coolest tone and music, but is let down by its awkward controls.

RAC2 starts off amazing but gets worse as it goes on, with early weapons becoming absolutely useless by the end game and the story mostly being a bunch of red herrings.

RAC3 introduced the best villain but has a forgettable soundtrack and a load of gimmicky shooting sections with the troopers, as well as being the turning point for levels not having as much platforming or alternate paths.

TOD has vaseline visuals, a way too serious and "epic" story that's just boring and more sterile animation. QFB is just more of that but even more boring.

ACIT is weird because it still has the too serious story but I feel like it works better for some reason, the radio has some decent jams, the visuals are much more vibrant than TOD, and it's got the funkiest credits theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kx2Odbzj9YE

But hey that's just my dumb opinion.

I picked up ACIT used from gamestop back in November and now it's my favorite game in the franchise.

Why? The villain.

Alright, so there are two kinds of good villains: those who have a viewpoint not drastically different than the hero's but a different or arguably better way of reaching their goals (Ozymandias from Watchman is a good example) or those who simply do evil things as everyday activities, or even routines. (Anton Chigur from No Country for Old Men).

The villain in ACIT is the former. I'm beng vague for spoilers sake, but I thought the story, even if it was a bit serious for a R&C game, was still pretty well-crafted.

Exploring space was fun too, with all the planetoids and shit. Overall just a good action-platformer experience.

Yeah, I can't say I liked it all that much, despite everyone's hype: Ratchet's levels weren't very memorable, villain mish-mash annoyed me, like they couldn't decide between newcomer, old known face and twisted reveal and crammed all three there, I hated Clank's missions and while space exploration was fun the planetoids felt too samey and satellites were a bit of a grind. Surprisingly I enjoyed ToD a hell of a lot more, because of its huge sprawling levels that you could explore for bolts and RYNO schematics, plus the RYNO itself was great and played one of my favorite pieces: 1812 overture.

Not really. It's very linear though and unlocking everything pretty much requires to have at least 1 additional player, but platforming is alright, weapon selection is decent, levels look good, and the familiar humor is there and explored well in a situation where Ratchet, Clank, Quark, and Nefarious are all working together. I honestly don't know why it's always getting so much shit.

Does nobody like Deadlock? That is probably one of my favorite ones. The weapons were some of the most fun out of all of them.

The moons were awesome and had some of the best Platforming in the series but they were super generic looking and had no story.

I would have rathered less moons and an extra planet (even an optional one in the last System, Vorselon's ship the third time doesn't count) that incorporated some of the moons level design with a unique look and being more than an obstacle course for an item.

If there is one game in the R&C series that deserves a remake, it's the first one, so I'm looking forward to it. I just hope they'll make original R&C after that again, just using this reboot as a new jumping off point instead of remaking the other games as well.

The weapons were the worst in the series.

I just did not care for any of them. The Chimpinator got a lot of use after it was fully upgraded but that was only because 3 beams made it OP as fuck (it also broke the game when using it in the area)

The music being unmemorable (& often unoriginal - fucking techno-Beethoven why) was disappointing but I'd been putting up with that since ToD. The weapons are THE main thing about R&C games though

That said, everything else was fantastic & I felt that it did the 'epic' plot much better than the other Future games. Best Clank gameplay in the series & the time shenanigans in general were handled better than any other game with them that I can think of. Nefarious was outstanding

The guns are the same Grummelnet weapons we've had for the past four mainline games & the running commentary from Ratchet/Clank/allies/enemies/Zurkon is fucking incessant. Agreed. Stick a levelling system in because that never got an in-universe explanation anyway & we're good to go. Tesla Claw would be hard to balance but everything else would be great. Maybe the original designers held the copyright & have now left? I don't know where you see "so much hate". It's not talked about much, but it definitely isn't hated.

In fact, I think it's on par with the first three games. It definitely had the best pure gameplay, it did so much with only 8 weapons, every weapon had its use, it has a fair amount of content, a fucking full-fledged co-op mode, and the two robots. Those were fun companions with top-tier banter. I actually really miss them in the later games, it's a shame they never reappeared.

Anyway, I love it. Probably played it for like 300 hours, spent all my limited playtime back then on it, just playing everything there is to play and upgrading the weapons to 99. I loved how every weapon turned to get rainbow-colored effects.

Hm, I guess. I still liked to use it because it just FELT very powerful. I used it with the lava mod, but there really is no reason to use it when you might as well just use the Arbiter or the mines.

Speaking of the lava mod, I absolutely loved to plop that on the Arbiter and shoot straight up, and the lava would rain down a whole while later. That was pretty damn cool.
