the disgaea team disbanded from NIS and joined compile heart a while ago and made this game
the plot is that you have to kill some sort of super baddie but he's super strong and he has like a trillion HP (hence the title of the game "makai shin trillion")
so to defeat him you have to train 7 demon lolis (each represent a deadly sins) so you pump their stat to millions and millions like disgaea and then send them on suicide mission in order to damage the mega big ass demon

it's not that bad, stat goes by millions and level go up to 9999 but so does XP gained and such, it's not uncommon to kill a single enemy and gain a thousand level all at once or get an item that is so strong that it triples the damage you do
i'd be more correct to say than rather than a game based around grinding it's a game all based around power levelling

If I remember correctly, its not just about the grind, it's about grinding quickly enough to stop Trillion from reaching the "heart" of the Netherworld, doing enough damage to slow or stop him temporarily to go and grind more, and repeat until you win I guess.

How's the gameplay compared to DD2? The reworking of the Evilties system in that was a huge step forward and nearly all of the classes/monsters were at least somewhat playable. If the plot wasn't fanfaction tier it'd be up there in my favorites.

Personally I like Seraphina, but people are pretty divided over her and I can understand that. In my case I find her and Killia work well as a pair of characters, and not so much on their own - he serves as a foil to her bullshit, and her bullshit gives him something to foil. You need a "straight man" in a pool of goofs. Killia's good for that. Christo kinda does it too, but he has the benefit of being an interesting character on top of it all.
