If you really need a harvest moon game and don't have a platform to play one of the good ones it will hit the spot. That said it's not flawless. Don't expect anything to blow you away. It's a harvest moon clone. It does what it set out to do well enough and that's enough.

It's good, possibly the best in it's genre. If it had actually good combat it would beat out rune factory for most people, though the crafting system already won me over personally. Once 4 player coop releases it'll pretty much solidify itself as top of the genre I feel.

Speak for yourself. Nearly every aspect is worse. The gardening, waifus, graphics, music, animal raising, crafting, writing, amount of content, and yes, combat are all miles behind.
-Characters are boring and say dumb shit
-Soundtrack ranges from bad to ok. Averages out to meh.
-Still no multiplayer.
-Combat needs work, but i always hated Rune Factory for forcing combat into HM. Its always half assed in my eyes.
On the plus side it has good crafting and plays pretty well when not in combat. Its alright. I feel like a lot of the TEN OUTTA TEN reviews are from people wishing to own a Harvest Moon/ Farn Story gameon PC and this is their only decent alternative to just emulation.

I've played both Rune Factory and Story of seasons. IMO story of seasons is one of the most boring POS i've ever touched, Rune factory is ok if you like weeb shitI doand not everone does.
Stardew Valley has the most variety, the most hidden surprises and depth, it keeps changing the game and making things interesting. i honestly think it is better than it's predecessors, it manages to include every form of casual interaction from harvest moon, animal crossing, rune factory and even includes a dating sim, and somehow makes them all fun and involving.
Story of Seasons has nothing on Stardew, it's fucking trash.

I played the first 2 rune factories and just couldnt get into them. The appeal is HM with combat right? It just feels like they had no idea what they were doing when implementing it into this type of game and maybe it was better off without going that direction. I have no idea how RF got 4 games other than other harvest moon fans love it all to death so much that they put up with shit.
I started on SNES and have felt lost with this series since Magical Melody. A wonderful life was the last great HM game to me.

RF3 is damn good. The appeal isn't about a HM with combat, it's about the characters in a fantasy setting and how the devs really managed to make it feel alive. All of the marriage candidates are excellent and most of the townsfolk are great to interact with.

No sense or loss and no proper money sinks makes the game boring year2+
Animal husbandry is useless and only good for comfy feel.
If you want to play dont min&max in the first year or you will burn yourself out.

It was good, but I'm afraid I won't be playing it for much longer
It's very grindy and the farm has now become so big it's almost unmanageable
And if I want to grind out relationships I have to chase people every day spamming gifts to them, not very fun
It was good until this point though, and I'll probably keep playing it for a while longer
First year is fun. Gets a bit bland afterwards, but that's still a good few dozen hours you'll get out of it.

Tides is a bit out of the norm for RF honestly. If you wanna hop into what many consider to be the best ones pick up Frontier(with runey cheat) RF3 or 4. Though id personally start with 2, dont touch 1, games a real slog in just about every way if youve played any RF
