Old games weren't perfect either, cartridges would need 2 or 3 tries, same with discs. Updates do suck though

There's a difference between cleaning a disc, and downloading a 5gb day-one patch, or a fucking 12gb voice pack.

I miss that when a game came out, that was the game. They didn't immediately plan for the next 3 titles of the series or the spin offs or how it would port to the next system with extra content. No updates. No planned DLC or tune in next month for the next BIG PATCH. I would have the game the way it was intended to be played from the start. Not this over arching production of extra stuff that is supposed to be my whole experience.
Hell even some games that were unfinished and put out are still better than the games that are unfinished today with constant patch/updates.
