It's technically a budget game, hence the shit graphics, but the real star of the show is the gameplay and co-op.

you horde hundreds (yes actually hundreds) of different crazy weapons across 4 differently playing classes, flawless co op game (local and online).
You basically just murder a bunch of giant alien insects and robots and ufo's and shit, sometimes its easier than it looks, sometimes its harder. In the higher difficulties (which the better weapons only drop in) it actually gets really hard.

It's almost like people have different tastes. Do you want a more fleshed out Pokemon or do you prefer action games? It's a simple distinguishment.
The only thing I don't like about it is the amount of dialogue, but you're only on a JRPGmachine so most people are used to it, maybe some enjoy it even though it's mostly corny.
