I hate all the space ships designs in SC

I really dont know how they did it, I cant think of any other game with space ships where I can actually say that. Even EvE which I consider to have a shitton of ugly ships has a few redeeming ones, but this game is utterly fucking ugly with every single ship.

They are so edgy, and I dont mean that in some shitty meme way but literally have so many edges it looks like a clusterfuck of pointless clutter on all the ships. Or its so utterly smooth it looks like a fucking dildo. And all the ships have these massive indents of space between important parts like engines to the hull creating all these huge pointless gaps.

when the alpha gets a economy and i'm able to work myself up from the starter ship is the only time i will get invested into the game.

nigga listen if they had like 100k-1mil our something, our were barely coming making it i would understand. but they get 110 mil, you know what kind of money that is.

and this is before release, at release when or when they show something worth taking like beta people will mass buy it too.

what you are saying is "aah yeah ill buy windows 10 + all their small little things from Microsoft store from Microsoft cause they need the money for their vision"

star citizen is basically Microsoft with all this money they get, and now i understand their vision got bigger but if they are not able to do it with this 110 mil i dont know man.

i will give it the benefit of the doubt because swtor cost 200 mill to make, but a lot of that is marketing & voice acting which sc is also getting.

+ don't think they aren't reinvesting some bit of money they get into getting more.

ever raided a surface base with a couple other dudes?

fought inside a conflict zone with a farragut or majestic present?

these are a couple other facets of that kind of gameplay. you can argue that it's empty, but what else does it need?

do you want to be constantly other than occasionally bombarded by people seeking your services? political intrigue to play out across public channels of random sections of space? more assassins to be hunting your ass? i've had a fer-de-lance track me across multiple systems before prior to shunting it out of FSD and killing it after it admitted to hounding my ship.

i'm at a loss for what sort of activity you feel is so critically lacking.

defense platforms and different types of stations that can be destroyed and attacked?

even more ships? cnbs can get very, very dense.

other players, maybe? cmdrs are quite spread out.

the game isn't frontier or first encounters, even if its aiming to shore up all of the content to be equally accessible so long as you've paid the troll toll

water worlds and gas giants that can be descended into are more or less imminent, exactly how interesting each of these facets will be remains to be seen.

i've never been fucked with over a rock before, which would have been cool.

as far as i'm aware, you will eventually be able to descend or land on each variety of world. hopefully there will be more onus to do so, as i've moved past anything related to horizons being truly profitable. the game is far from perfect, but in my eyes it's even further away from being anything close to boring or bad.

the hotas must help.

Believe me, so do I, but I'd much rather work my way towards it over the course of weeks or months as opposed to pledging to get it and having it from the very start of the game. >>
>>332073591
>Raided a surface base

No, fuck horizons

>fought inside a conflict zone

You mean an empty zone with a backdrop, possibly two capital ships if you're lucky?

I want to enter an instance which spans a planet. Around that planet I want to be able to travel and encounter multiple things. Ranging from satellites to pirate bases to trading hubs to coriolis stations.
>>
>>332074215

For these people that "extended period of time" has been fifteen or twenty years already, if not longer.

your previous statement on how supercruise constrains things does legitimately apply to your desire for a sort of orbital instance which would be peppered with interesting shit.

prior games didn't feature the in-system torus drives described in the lore, and revolved around functionally time skipping to get anywhere serious. this mechanic wouldn't be compatible with anything multiplayer-related, though, so the modern FSD was thought up to bridge the gap.

i think that stray installations might be cool showing up as unidentified, or even clearly identified but not infinitely visible signal sources. what's neat about SC's take on such structures is that you can get out of your ship and go walk around in them, something elite will not have for, i imagine, quite some time yet, if ever.

this is a fundamental thing which renders some of your suggestions a little untenable, not to bash them. it'd be interesting to fly around in such an environment.

SC's definitely your game, though.
>>
>>332074404
Squadron 42 is the single-player game, it shouldn't have lag at all. It will get a downgrade if it is coming to consoles though.
>>
>>332074827
My suggestion is just a generalized idea meant to explain what I would want to see in terms of an instance. Because right now instances feel like they are a small portion of space with a single point of interaction (a station, a select area for mining, a select area where a battle is happening). They portrayed space as empty, which is accurate to real life. Unfortunately that doesn't make for a good aspect of a game.

I only wish they could implement something similar to Starsector. But as you said because of that FSD (combined with the seed system and instances making up the entire game) we'll most likely never see that.
>>

>They portrayed space as empty, which is accurate to real life. Unfortunately that doesn't make for a good aspect of a game.

I absolutely, completely understand your reasoning behind this assertion, but I couldn't agree less. Call me fucking autistic but actually coping with and beholding the sheer emptiness of it all, and dealing with the fact that there will be places with literally nothing to do, that will never serve economic purpose, and will never have anything interesting is awesome. I've done a fair amount of exploration in the seed-generated emptiness of its simulated milky way, and it was still very interesting and a lot of fun. this will be far from the case for many people.

while it is a game, and will never escape this, i like to think that the title takes itself a tad more seriously than some all-the-time-fighting-shooty-killy off the shelf space game. it forces you to be patient, to wait, often for no reward, to do boring things, cope with the effects of your actions, and at least pushes you to conduct yourself responsibly, whether you're a pirate in a python or a schmuck in an adder. the setting and atmosphere is very dense, but hugely opaque, and this pushes all of my buttons.

every last one of them.

problem with E:D is and still gonna be is it's a shitty singleplayer game that isn't really singleplayer, and its a shitty MMO that doesn't really does the MMO part good to.

they should just get rid of solo at this point, i mean there is literately nothing to do in the game atm.

and imo player interactions should fix that, trading in solo is boring as fuck.

trading in open were pirate players are waiting for ya should spice things up, plus trading ships have a risk will they risk losing their shield and weapons just so they can trade more and easier but be undefended?

basically there are no risks in the game, nothing to invest i, no player interaction.

No, even LTI ships have a replacement time that exponentially increases the more you fuck around with them, and insurance doesn't cover you in certain zones.

Furthermore, LTI only covers the hull and some basic-bitch equipment, which is meant to be several times the hull's worth.
>>
>>332077102
>Also if you steal it they're never getting it back

this isn't the case.

you will not, however, be permitted to effectively duplicate the vessel by allowing others to steal it and then asking for a new one. systemic shit like that will have its lti revoked.

This isn't the problem. The problem is that the entire game is like that. I guess I'm expecting too much half the time, but I constantly want to see trading hubs, rest stops, bars, etc. Something to indicate that the universe of E:D is actually alive. Even the bubble doesn't feel inhabited half the time. I feel no different going out to Robigo, Draconis or even further past those areas then when I'm in the bubble.

>60$

Don't get me wrong, I'm not paying for that shit full price, if I do get them. I can justify 10 dollars though if I feel that the small extra features are good.

I was joking, it'll never be a good game.

The only "steady" thing about it is Brabenization.

No, John, you are the reddit.

Theres thousands of videos of gameplay, considering the dogfighting module came out back in June of 2014.

I haven't been on /vg/ in months.

Why did /scg/ suddenly die off?

Is /scg/ a banned general now?
