my best advice is to just treat it like a generic FPS and not a fear game
It's the kind of game that would be a 6/10 if it had nothing to do with the FEAR franchise.
But because that's not the case, it's a -10000/10.

Points and competing with P2 makes it feel a bit old-school, or arcade-y(?) It's okay, a bit too short and easy though, especially if you're Fettel, or you've been saving up on shotgun shells as PM1. Two cover systems is pretty cool though, wish more FPS had them

Story is pretty garbage, although I really enjoy Paxton Fettel being onscreen. Gameplay wise, its as fun as any decent shooter. Has no horror aspects worth mentioning. Too bad they made it a FEAR game, sullied the franchise.

Got it for £3 or something stupid, and played it through a couple or three times, singleplayer and co-op. Stupid fun/10 would play again.
Waste of John Carpenter though. That said, he's not done anything worthwhile since 2000, Lost Themes excepted.

It's your typical console-orientated FPS; no imagination, pure mediocrity.
I don't know why people are so pissy about it being part of the FEAR franchise. We already had two crappy expansions, which people have suddenly decided to pretend are good nowadays for some reason, and a shitty sequel. FEAR was already long dead by the time of FEAR 3, it was just more crap on top of the already existing pile of crap.
