Did you know that there are Deku Shields in chests in OoT but which will only contain 5 rupees if you already have one in your inventory? They vary in location if you're playing Master Quest. I believe there are two in Dodongo's Cavern in regular OoT, and then one in Dodongo's Cavern and one in Jabu-Jabu's Belly.
Did you also know, that it's implied you would once have been able to get to the Fire Temple area as child Link? When you're in Death Mountain Cavern from the summit entrance, you can find a Deku Scrub is at the bottom of a 50 foot drop. It sells you bombs, which you would presumably have used to blow up the boulder right next to it, on the opposite side of a jump. If you could make that jump you would be able to walk around and cross the bridge to the Fire Temple warp-pad (the bridge was originally not broken as can be seen in the Feel Everything trailer). This was probably changed when Nintendo realized that this means you would be able to easily skip meeting Link the Goron or because there is no way to stop you from walking into Darunia's room from behind as a child.
Did you ALSO know that the Boomerang was once the item of the Deku Tree AND Dodongo's Cavern before it finally found its place in Jabu-Jabu? You can see Link wielding it in videos against King Dodongo and the tailparisans were enemies inside the beta Deku Tree.
