because mmo dungeons aren't about exploration, they are about killing bosses, wow's old dungeons show that players hate wandering through dungeons forever, they want to get in, kill the bosses, and get out, there is no need or desire for huge winding dungeons, exploration is put into other parts of content for players who want to do it instead

I just want more MMO dungeons like the ones in TERA which have multiple routes, some which are randomly locked, and others which require speed running to make in time.
A shame TERA's endgame was shit-tier and eventual F2P model ruined it further

Yeah but if they added branching paths I'd have to deal with running the dungeon multiple times and having new players get lost just so they could grab a chest or some shit and then waste 5 minutes for an x-potion so what the fuck ever.

The map layout fits the game it is in, changing that isn't going to suddenly fix the all the problems that 14 has. Branching paths for no reason aren't going to make it better.

People bitched about Tamtara having branching paths so they started going linear.

Now people are bitching that they are going to linear and not having enough branching paths.

The correct thing to do would have been to have branching dungeons with different potential boss fights depending on which path you took. Even then, at the highest level people would always fight the quickest one to fall. To fix that, you could make the cool branching dungeons either low level or tie a token drop to certain bosses to incentivize the acquisition of sidegrade gear.

Oh wait, I forgot modern vidya hates horizontal progression.

Well the truth is, that this game went through a serious redo and had to shut the game down just to relaunch it. They've been strapped for resources for a while now. That leads to basic designs in level layout and number of bosses. Yoshi has been on record saying things like not being able to release new classes outside of expansions anymore, and that while the game would be better if the main raids had three difficulty settings, they don't have the resources to create three different fights.

So one of the main reasons why dungeons are straight forward hallways with bosses in them is because they aint got shit for resources.

Just because they planned that far ahead doesn't mean they put any substance behind the actual planning. It's literally the same thing over and over with a new number over it and some different flavor text.

You can have 3 groups per raid in some of the content, and in world content you can have as many as an entire server ganging up on one world boss.

Who would ever think being unable to check your fucking map to see where you are is a good thing, or getting constantly LOST!

If FF11's map was in a regular Final Fantasy game id be ok with that, provided I have a map to check, but in an MMO where you are dealing with fucking retards, no, I am not.
