What do you guys think of this? Is it worth the $15?
I loved Harvest Moon to death but I'm on the fence after getting my heart broken byStarbound.Also, where is that furry mod that's floating around?
If you liked HM, yeah go for it. The game feels like a better version of it.
Though it gets a little tumblr-y if that's a deal breaker.
And I don't remember where to find that mod, but I want some goat Harvey.
Its a great game. If you liked Harvest Moon, its exactly up your alley.
Chucklefish didn't develop the game. They're just the publishers. But anyway, Stardew is great, definitely worth the $15. Most people who have previously played HM agree that it's basically a modern version of FoMT if that helps you decide whether you want it or not.

I like the game, I wouldn't call it a better version of Harvest Moon. It's the ACNL of Harvest Moon, it adds tons of fun bells and whistles, there's more to keep busy with, and gives some more depth to some of the basics, but the fundamentals that are meant to hole it all together are pretty weak in comparison to the original. Characters and character interaction is weak and boring, the land it takes place in is scaled and designed poorly, etc

The interracial couple has a mixed child afaik, nothing special with that.
And gay/lesbian protag is nothing different, it's not even mentioned.
Game is relaxing and cute, 'cept for the fucking water can.
I do find the interactions weak and limited, also as things progress and you do certain things the dialog barely changes. One example is getting Perrier's shop to be open all week, but the dialog with him and his wife on Wednesdays still say they're closed and are enjoying their day off.
Also how some of the townsfolk come off early in the game, especially the singles, make it hard for you to become attached to one.

I'm waiting for a mobile release. Even with Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon I always hated played these sorts of games in front of a tv. They seem made for on the go style play.

Definitely worth the money if you want to scratch that HM itch, atleast in terms of mechanics. Personally feel it takes a step back everywhere else, the music isnt as enjoyable, im not fond of the artstyle and the village and its people arent very engaging.

Expect for the deeper mechanics, improved farming, better customization, larger world, combat, better fishing, characters that aren't walking tropes (though their dialog is a bit shit), etc. Everything that has ever been in a harvest moon game is here and better, and there are several elements that have never been seen in a harvest moon game as well. It's a better game by every measurement.

No, everything is literally the same except for combat, and the combat in Stardew Valley is tepid trash that shouldn't even be in the game and makes Rune Factory look like Bloodborne in comparison.
I think Story of Seasons even had more clothes to craft than are available in Stardew Valley.
Really, I like Stardew Valley, in the middle of my second year, but not a single thing about it stands out compared to A New Beginning or Story of Season. I don't even mean that in a bad way. I enjoy Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley is exactly the same. There isn't any more or any less depth between the two.

You can make better or just luck foods that give more. The benefit is making them before hand and a lot of bombs, allows you to go deeper into the Desert Caverns a lot faster. Fighting shit in there eats up too much time.
