Well I've always liked final fantasy games for their visuals, world building, stories, music and battle systems.
It depends on the game 2bh. Not everything from japan is the same. I like Devil May Cry games but I can't stand animu panty quest RPGs.

More unique themes and settings. The Final Fantasy series usually has a very unique world with elements of medieval fantasy meeting science fiction, or themes of steampunk.
I don't hate western RPGs, but jesus, how many fucking Toiken RPGs can we possibly have? Dragon Age, the Witcher, Elder Scrolls, WoW, etc have all of the same damn key elements. There are so many games in which I can get excited to face dragons or orcs again. Hell, overall I wish we had more space sci-fi games since the aliens can get unique, but no, we have more and more medieval fantasy games.
As of late I've been more interested in JRPGs for some variation in the stories to the themes. I won't pass up on a well built western RPGs like the Witcher, but I don't get as excited for western RPGs as of late like I do with Final Fantasy 15 or Persona.
Finally Persona is unique since it's an RPG set in modern times that isn't in some post apocalyptic world. I find the character development fascinating in JRPGs, and many Western RPGs fall short on that.
